    Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

    The position of Editor is assigned to the the Information Access Unit (IAU) in the Office of the Secretary (SEC). SEC provides strategic and operational support to ADB, the Board of Governors, and the Board of Directors. IAU oversees editing of Board documents, Board documents circulation and management, information classification, and public disclosure. You will be based at our headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

    You will report to the Advisor, SEC and Head, IAU and will oversee Junior team members.

    Your Role

    As an Editor, you will provide editorial services for papers prepared by Staff and submitted to the Board of Directors and subsequently disclosed to the public. You will also contribute to the improvement of the flow of documentation and management of information and the implementation of the Access to Information Policy (AIP).

    You will:

  • Edit Board papers, including project and technical assistance reports, policy and strategy papers, financial and economic papers, project completion reports, and evaluation documents.
Provide technical guidance, advice, knowledge sharing, and capacity building relating to editorial services for Board documents. Lead a team within own area of expertise or contribute technical inputs to complex assignments as a team member. Help develop ways to improve the flow of documentation and information. Participate in knowledge sharing activities to improve the standard of Board document preparation by Staff. Guide Staff on disclosure procedures, requirements, and notes following the AIP and Operations Manual section L3. Help raise awareness and build capacity of Staff in other departments and resident missions on the implementation of the AIP. Coordinate with the Office of the General Counsel; the Strategy, Policy, and Partnerships Department; and the Office of Safeguards on disclosure issues that require legal advice or involve policy matters. Help write and report ADB's annual compliance with the AIP. Support to a Board committee, as needed. Provide support to the management of events, including the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, as needed.

Qualifications

You will need:

University degree, or equivalent in English, Journalism, Communications, International Affairs, Social Sciences or related fields, preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent, combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered. At least 6 years relevant editing experience in a professional capacity International experience working in several countries, preferably in developing countries Excellent oral and written communication skills in English Experience editing development-related material (especially other MDBs, UN, IFIs) preferred Please refer to the link for ADB Competency Framework for Technical International Level 1.
