Mission and objectivesUNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) derives its mandate from the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 33/147 of 20 December 1978. Called upon by United Nations Member States in that year, UNDP was requested “to improve the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people by identifying their social and economic needs and by establishing concrete projects to that end”. UNDP/PAPP is a responsive development agency that works together with the Palestinian people to fulfil their aspiration for sustainable human development based on self-determination, equality and freedom.
ContextFollowing the extensive destruction in Gaza, UNDP is leading large-scale reconstruction efforts focusing on debris recycling and management, education sector reconstruction, and health system rehabilitation. To strengthen and diversify its funding base for these critical initiatives, UNDP is seeking the support of 40 motivated Online Volunteers to contribute to a structured Donor Mapping exercise. The objective of this assignment is to identify and map potential donors that align with UNDP’s thematic priorities in Gaza, including: Crowdfunding platforms supporting post-conflict recovery, Emerging country donors with relevant development portfolios, Private sector donors and CSR initiatives, Institutional donor organizations with mandates aligned to education, health, or infrastructure recovery. The donor mapping will directly support UNDP in refining its engagement strategies and outreach plans to mobilize timely and effective resources for the recovery of Gaza.
Task DescriptionUNDP in Gaza is looking for 40 online volunteers to support with mapping donors and funding opportunities to its reconstruction activities in Gaza. The volunteers will support with: Research and compile information on donors that fund opportunities for these programmes: 1- Debris management, 2- Health, 3- Education, 4- Water, 5- Land reclamation and 6-Urban recovery. Identify the contact persons for each donor Categorize donors into four groups: crowdfunding, emerging donors, private donors, and institutional donor organizations. Enter findings into a shared matrix (Excel/Google Sheet) according to a structured template provided by UNDP. Each volunteers will support in finding of at least 20 potential donors and if possible recommendations for how UNDP may approach each donor
