Vacancy #: 7271 Unit: Oceania Programme Coordination Unit Organisation: International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Location: Oceania Regional Office, Suva, Fiji Reporting to: Protected and Conserved Areas Programme Coordinator Work percentage: 100% Grade: P1 Expected start date: 02 June 2025 Type of contract: Fixed-term (24 months) Closing date: 08 May 2025 (extended) BACKGROUND The IT and Digital Communications Officer will be employed by the COLOURS Project and based within the Protected and Conserved Areas Programme (PACA) at the IUCN Oceania Regional Office. The officer will work in close collaboration with PACA, the broader IUCN Oceania team, and IUCN’s Global Information Systems unit to deliver IT and digital communication services that enhance project implementation and programme operations.
This role is structured to ensure that COLOURS-specific deliverables are prioritized while maintaining seamless integration with IUCN’s digital ecosystem. JOB DESCRIPTION Key Responsibilities
1. Project-Specific Deliverables (COLOURS Project)
The officer will support the COLOURS Project in digital communication, IT service delivery, and information management to strengthen protected and conserved areas.
• IT Solutions for Project Implementation: Ensure that COLOURS IT needs are met, aligning with IUCN’s global IT strategy and PACA’s requirements.
• Digital Communication Services: Develop and maintain digital communication platforms for COLOURS, including email systems, collaboration tools, and digital outreach channels.
• Multimedia Support: Facilitate video conferencing, webinar coordination, and multimedia content creation for the project’s stakeholder engagement.
• Project Data and IT Security Compliance: Ensure that IT infrastructure supporting COLOURS is compliant with data security and IUCN policies.
• Capacity Building: Provide training and technical support to COLOURS project staff and grantees on IT tools and digital communication platforms.
• Manage the training and technical support for Centre of Excellence (COLOURS) IT needs and resourcing.
• Support information and data management on the regional protected and conserved area portals.
2. PACA and IUCN Oceania-Wide Responsibilities
Beyond the COLOURS Project, the officer will contribute to regional IT service delivery, security, and digital communications across IUCN Oceania.
Information Management & Digital Communications
• Enhance end-user computing within PACA and IUCN Oceania by supporting software acquisition, application enhancements, and IT alignment with global standards.
• Ensure seamless operation of internal and external communication tools for both project-specific and regional initiatives.
• Provide technical support for social media management, website updates, and internal communication tools used by IUCN Oceania.
Technical Support & Infrastructure Management
• Oversee the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT infrastructure, including computers, mobile devices, and network components.
• Implement and maintain software configurations, data backups, antivirus solutions, and security compliance across IUCN Oceania’s end-user devices.
• Coordinate with the Global Information Systems IT Infrastructure Team to ensure alignment with IUCN’s broader IT strategy.
Security, Compliance & Global IT Integration
• Ensure software compliance and licensing requirements are met across all end-user devices within IUCN Oceania.
• Identify and mitigate security threats to protect digital assets and IT infrastructure.
• Support global IT infrastructure integration, collaborating with international IT teams to maintain service continuity.
Client Support & Incident Management
• Serve as the primary contact for end-user IT support requests, providing troubleshooting and timely resolutions.
• Use the Global Ticketing System (Service Portal) to track incidents, problems, requests, and changes.
• Conduct staff training on IT best practices, cybersecurity, and efficient technology use.
Communication Technology & Digital Media Support
• Provide technical assistance for online meetings, webinars, and digital events.
• Assist in website content management and support IT-related aspects of social media and email marketing tools.
• Ensure smooth digital communication within PACA and across IUCN Oceania, supporting programme-wide outreach and information dissemination.
Other Duties
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and digital communication trends to improve IT service delivery.
• Perform additional IT- and digital communication-related tasks as assigned to support the smooth operation of IUCN Oceania and the COLOURS Project.

4. IUCN Global IT Teams – Ensuring IT infrastructure and security are in sync with global standards. REQUIREMENTS • Qualifications and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Communications, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in IT support, infrastructure management, or a related role with exposure to digital communications technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, SCCM, network administration, IT security management, and digital communication tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide effective IT and communication technology solutions.
• Experience working in a regional or international organization is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
