Salary: £8,400-£10,500 for the full duration of the consultancy
Hours: 2-3 days per week
Duration: Consultancy contract to start as soon as possible until the end of December 2020
Location: Remote with some office-based meetings in Manchester, UK

We are looking for a skilled and passionate digital communications professional to join our team on an interim basis. Our medical teams respond to disasters around the world and we work with local emergency teams to build their resilience to future threats. Our work has never been more vital and we’re responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in ten countries around the world.

We are looking for somebody to come and hit the ground running and provide immediate support to our busy communications function, so someone with excellent writing skills and solid experience in digital journalism, online content and social media. The role will sit in the Fundraising and Communications team, reporting to the Communications and Media Manager and work closely with all departments.

You will be an expert copywriter, who can produce well-written, eye catching content with a confident working knowledge of WordPress, and previous experience with SEO, Google Analytics, and MailChimp would be desirable. Design skills using Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator would be a distinct advantage as would an interest in humanitarian or global affairs. This role will focus on our digital communications – coordinating our social media channels across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn as well as developing our website and email communications.

You will support the Communications and Media Manager to maximise media opportunities, working closely with the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office to demonstrate the impact of work funded by UK Aid. You will be adaptable, creative, collaborative and able to quickly establish effective working relationships. You’ll be an energetic and resilient professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to UK-Med’s humanitarian mandate. You will be goal-orientated, with the ability to set clear objectives and work independently.
