About this position
The Communications Division (DCC) uses digital intelligence, data, and creativity to help position the IDB Group as the preferred partner for development in the region. DCC works with press, Web, email, social media, and paid media channels to help give visibility to stories of impact in the region. The Communications Division (DCC) is looking for a Senior Data Visualization Designer to support the communications team in the development of creative concepts and the production of communication materials.
The IDB's Communications Division builds and protects the reputation of the IDB Group.
What you’ll do
- Design engaging, compelling, and user-friendly data visualizations content, translating complex ideas into visualizations that are accurate, impactful and that effectively communicate the story behind the data.
- Working in tandem with sector or country communicators, define campaign concepts and storytelling.
- Create captivating videos, animations, infographics, and related graphics for various communications channels, including social media, paid media, email, and web (blogs and websites).
- Collaborate with the paid media team to ensure campaigns achieve high business impact.
- Provide support in implementing brand guidelines.
- Design document layouts.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to understand their communication goals and develop visualization strategies.
- Conduct quality assurance and review of all data visualizations to ensure accuracy, usability, and adherence to existing branding and style guidelines.
- Design institutional print and digital collateral, such as reports, blogs, brochures, and other communication materials.
- Provide support for other general graphic design functions as needed.
- Deep expertise in distilling the \"big picture\" from scientific, academic, financial, and other data into clear, user-friendly visuals is essential.
- Advanced knowledge of Mac OS and Adobe Creative Cloud apps including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Adobe Premiere and After Effects and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) are a must.
- Advanced knowledge of video editing and production.
- Proficiency in graphic design software and use of Canva.
- Proficiency in chart-making and other data visualization techniques is required.
- A thorough understanding of visual design principles, encompassing photography, typography, iconography, and color theory, is crucial.
What you'll need
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in journalism, marketing, communications, or other related fields preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in digital graphic design, video for social media, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, (Portuguese and/or French proficiency is also desirable).

Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
- Length of contract: 12 months.
