Terms of Reference1. Organizational context
The present position, part of UNHCR Division of External Relations, sits in the Private Sector Partnerships Unit in Italy, whose objectives are to raise funds from private donors, build and strengthen a supporter base and contribute to enhance public awareness and sympathy for refugees and people of concern. The position is part of the PSP Support team, which takes care of Administration, Finance, Data Protection, Supply and Human Resources for the Private Sector Partnership unit.

2. The position
The internship program will mainly focus on Data Protection whose responsible is the Senior Finance Assistant who will directly supervise the Intern. The supervisor will define work objectives and will provide regular advice and guidance. The incumbent’s workload and the assignments will remain under constant scrutiny and direction of the supervisor.
The incumbent will assist the Supervisor with the processing of Data Protection queries coming from donors, partners and supporters. S/he will keep frequent contact with staff at various levels in the office and with external services (such as donor care service) and suppliers to exchange information.
The Data Protection Intern will also support the team with general Administrative/Finance tasks under the guidance of the Supervisor.

3. Duties and responsibilities
• Attendance in trainings indicated by the Supervisor.
• Collection and sorting of queries concerning Data Protection either received in dedicated inboxes or forwarded by colleagues. Based on trainings, identifying key elements of the queries and either directly answer or escalating to supervisor.
• Accessing the local donor database management system to read and edit information in order to follow up data subjects’ requests.
• Liaising with colleagues and suppliers to ensure that Data Protection requests are duly followed up, for example by requesting data cancellation.
• Taking action on Administrative and Finance tasks assigned by the supervisor.

4. Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.

5. Desirable qualifications and skills
• Knowledge of data protection laws and practices at national or regional level (e.g. EU GDPR).
• Critical thinking and problem solving.
• Data analysis.
• Basic IT skills
• Experience with database management systems, particularly Customer Relationship Management.

Additionally, given that the intern shall liaise with local stakeholders, such as supporters, proficiency in Italian is mandatory, particularly in formal written language.

6. Conditions
It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9.00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to the PSP Support the team in Rome, Italy.
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
