Who are we?
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international humanitarian organization with operations in 40 countries dedicated to assisting, protecting and finding solutions for refugees, internally displaced and other conflict-affected communities.
The Division for Effectiveness, Knowledge and Learning is all about evidence; its analysis, documentation, and sharing. We host global advisors for programme results and monitoring, for data collection and data analysis, for accountability to people, aid transparency, and evaluation. We provide technical support to DRC’s operations and build capacity of staff in these areas. Through our work we contribute to DRC’s programmes to be effective, and we collect and share evidence of DRC’s effectiveness, building knowledge.
About the job
To stay relevant and meet the needs of the people we serve, we are exploring new, innovative ways of using data to guide our work, planning and strategies. We are therefore working on integrating predictive analytics, big data and machine learning models in our operations. In partnership with IBM, we have developed a prototype for forecasting forced displacement. We are now exploring expanding this model to other countries, as well as developing new types of predictive analysis in different settings.
The Data Analyst will be supporting the development of innovative data models, maintaining the models and extracting the results. The role further entails enhancing the sharing and uptake of the results through data visualizations and various types of reporting.
Key responsibilities:
Support and engage in all data-related work in the predictive analytics projects as well as work on the codes and other related technical tasks. Provide data extraction, processing, analysis and visualization expertise to the Division Work closely with the Senior Analyst and Global Data Science Lead in the Division on generating and visualizing evidence from predictive analytics models Provide advice and capacity building on data presentation and visualization for HQ departments and field offices, also within the MEAL network Support other data processing and analysis for the organization as needed and agreed with manager

Required
Experience – 1-3 years of relevant work experience Coding – knowledge and experience with R Program or Python Data Management – experience in collecting, analyzing and reporting data Tools – knowledge in developing data collection tools Visualization – conversant with developing dashboards in R Shiny, PowerBI or Tableau Collaboration – can work effectively with teams from diverse cultures Travel - Able and willing to travel for up to 30 days per year and operate in an at times physically demanding working environment.
Desirable
Context – past experience in working in developing/fragile countries and settings Subject – past experience working with displacement and/or in humanitarian organizations Machine Learning – experience in building predictive Machine Learning (ML) Models
We offer
Contract length: 3 years
Work place: Borgergade 10, 1300 Copenhagen, Denmark
Start date: January 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter
The position is temporary as it is currently funded for three years through a specific project, but the aim is to make it permanent if the funding is secured.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC. The position is at “fuldmægtig” level. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
