About the team

You will work in the Gender and Diversity Division (GDI), which is part of the Social Sector (SCL). The team’s mission is to promote: (a) gender equality and empowerment, (b) development with identity of indigenous peoples, and (c) the inclusion of African descendants, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. It supports Bank operations, provides policy and strategic guidance, and carries out technical assistance and training.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to the design and support of loans and technical cooperation projects within the division, focusing on strengthening components related to gender and diversity.
  • Assist in the design and support of loans and technical cooperation across the region, aiming to enhance the gender and diversity aspects of these projects.
  • Specific actions include: (i) identifying opportunities for mainstreaming activities in line with strategic alignment regulations (gaps, activities, and indicators); (ii) engaging in client dialogue; (iii) processing and analyzing statistical data to identify gaps; (iv) contributing to the development of gender and diversity annexes for operations.
  • Provide technical follow-up on the implementation of gender and diversity actions, particularly in technical cooperation and other prioritized operations.
  • Specific actions include: (i) supporting the coordination of PEC consultancies and firms; (ii) reviewing reports; (iii) monitoring activities and products.
  • Assist in developing analytical and communication products related to gender and diversity issues, including sectoral framework documents. These products may include blogs, pedagogical capsules, dashboards, technical notes, and more.
  • Collaborate on other Bank initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and advancing the diversity agenda.
  • Support the preparation of TCs’ annual reports by collecting information on the execution of activities, key indicators, lessons learned, and financial progress.
  • Work with databases and perform data analysis.
  • Participate in G&D research projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of knowledge and dissemination products.
  • Support the coordination, design and implementation of events.

    What you'll need

    • Education: Master’s degree in economics, Public Policy, International Development or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
    • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience working on social development. Of those, at least 3 years of experience working on gender issues and/or one of the four diverse population groups prioritized by the IDB (LGBTQ+, Afrodescendants, Persons with Disabilities and Indigenous People). Experience working on multilateral organizations preferred.
    • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
