About this position

We are looking for a dynamic and talented professional to work and contribute to our research agenda and data analysis of the labor markets and pensions in Latin America and the Caribbean. As data analyst you will work on the analysis of structured and non-structured data, the design and implementation of methodologies to evaluate regional labor policies. This includes the content of skills and alternatives in the formalization of workers.

You will work in Labor Markets and Social Security Division (SCL/LMK) part of Social department. This team is responsible to become a benchmark in the region to respond to the needs of countries to create more and better jobs and improve coverage and sustainability of social security.

What you’ll do

  • Support the analytic work of the Division by performing data analysis, literature reviews, writing academic material on skills, labor intermediation and social security.
  • Contribute to the collection, design, review and correction of datasets, documents and code to harmonize labor and social security indicators that are published by IDB.
  • Conduct analytical work using structured and unstructured data necessary as input for the country dialogue, country diagnostics for sector notes by preparing background materials.
  • Design calls for proposals and coordinate the elaboration of research papers, studies, analytical products and policy documents, as required.
  • Participate in meetings with other areas of the Bank that have similar efforts (SCL, GDI, EDU, among others).
  • Contribute to the designing and implementation pilots of solutions (incentives, products, channels, etc.) to increase the use of retirement savings among independent workers.
  • Contribute to the dissemination strategies and awareness workshops of LMK with different stakeholders and audiences, including preparing blog posts, presentations, and other materials.

    What you'll need

    • Education: Master’s degree in economics, statistics, public policy, engineering, or other relevant fields. Prospects of engaging in doctoral-level studies are preferred.
    • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in labor markets and social security topics is desired, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean. Candidates must have a strong quantitative background (e.g., econometrics, statistics) and programming (R, Python and Stata).
    • Languages: Proficiency in English.

        Requirements

        • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
        • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

          • Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
          • Length of contract: 12 months.
