Communications Senior Associate

The Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) is responsible for evaluating all aspects of the IDB Group's work. OVE undertakes independent and systematic evaluations of the IDB Group’s strategies, policies, programs, activities, delivery support functions, and systems. It disseminates findings of the evaluations so that recommendations for improvement can be used in the design, appraisal, and execution of new operations, providing oversight and support for enhancing the effectiveness of the IDB Group's evaluation system.

About this position

We are seeking a client-oriented, strategic, and highly motivated communications professional who will lead the Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE)´s outreach and dissemination activities and support the development, implementation, and coordination of effective communication strategies. The selected professional will also support evaluation capacity-building efforts in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region and enhance communication approaches and capacities within OVE.

What you’ll do:

Lead the implementation and periodic update of the OVE Communications Strategy as an integral part of OVE’s work plan. Maintain and expand the communication options menu to disseminate OVE’s work across the IDB and the LAC region (Reports, Presentations, Video, Social Media, Website, etc.). Oversee OVE’s entire publication cycle, working with OVE’s graphic designer to transform OVE evaluations and other products into attractive, high-quality, user-friendly publications using a variety of formats that appeal to broad audiences. Ensure that all publications are aligned with OVE’s design guidelines. Develop, implement, manage, and monitor dissemination strategies and activities for OVE’s different products to expand upon OVE’s learning, accountability, and transparency mandates and to enhance OVE’s impact on relevant audiences. Apply expertise in communications and messaging and develop a deep understanding of internal and external stakeholder challenges. Create innovative communication and knowledge products and outputs to disseminate OVE products and findings effectively. Design an effective internal communications system, facilitating dialogue within the department and developing the communication skills of OVE’s personnel. Coordinate the communication, dissemination, and knowledge generation of OVE’s evaluation capacity-building activities in LAC. Manage all communications-related vendors and contracts. Serve as point of contact with the IDB’s Communication Department (KIC). Ensure that all OVE documents comply with the Access to Information Policy of both IDB and IDB Invest, and act as OVE’s focal point for their implementation.

What you’ll need:

Education: A master’s degree in communications, public affairs, journalism, political science, or a related field, with knowledge of evaluation and LAC development issues.

Experience: At least four years of relevant experience related to the position's key responsibilities. Experience effectively communicating complex messages from technical and evaluative work to different audiences and designing, implementing, and assessing communications projects. Strong project management skills, excellent writing and editing skills, client-oriented attitude, and strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to consult, partner, and work effectively with others. Experience in evaluation is a plus.

Language: Proficiency in English required. Additional knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus. Spanish is highly desirable, so if you are not proficient, we will ask you to commit to learning once you join us since the skill is essential for long-term success in this role.

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
