​​Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) in Montenegro and in close collaboration with Communications Officer (Western Balkans), the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of PR, media and communication activities and accountable for contributing to the preparation and dissemination of communications materials that promote IOM’s work and raise awareness of migration issues in the Montenegro all in line with IOM guidelines, policies and procedures and donor requirements.

The main responsibilities will include but not limited to the following activities:

  • ​Assist in maintaining close relationship with local media, news portals and communication channels.
  • Monitor media and communications by and about IOM in the country, assist in improving visibility and enhance media engagement and presence at events organized by IOM Montenegro. 
  • Liaise with media and communications counterparts in governmental and non-governmental partner agencies, Embassies etc.
  • Assist in the implementation of IOM Montenegro’s Communications Strategy, PR, outreach, visibility and media liaison, including content planning for social media and web platforms.
  • Draft correspondence and other documents as needed (Mission’s statements, Note verbale, press releases and media advisories, releases, periodic newsletters and other PR material).
  • Participate in Mission’s key events and workshops and undertake field duty travels as needed to collect and draft multimedia content, including photographs, coverage of field activities, and human interest stories.
  • Assist in design and production of various communication products, infographics and reports.
  • Regular update and maintenance of IOM Montenegro social media accounts etc. 
  • Assist with IOM Montenegro’s website regular updates and maintenance.
  • ​Attend all communication groups IOM Montenegro takes part in and contribute to all activities envisaged and planned by communication groups, including reporting on IOM Montenegro activities. 
  • ​​​ Maintain records of outgoing and incoming documents and archive them; proofread documents and format texts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style, as well as for adherence to established standards. 
  • Provide general assistance in the coordination and implementation of communication strategies of projects implemented by the Mission.
  • Assist in implementation of various communication and awareness raising campaigns for projects implemented by the Mission, ensuring compliance with donor visibility requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
