Context
In the framework of the situation regarding the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees across Greece, IOM Greece is establishing a pool of candidates interested to join the organization as soon as possible. The action under which the candidates will be selected shall contribute to the provision of targeted care interventions to the unaccompanied children (UMC) residing in Greece. Therefore, IOM will capitalize on its extensive experience on the areas of child protection so as to provide tailored support and interventions to the UMC by offering accommodation and care services.
Under the overall supervision of the Project team leader and the direct supervision of the Facility Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily care to UMC in the assigned accommodation facility.
- Support the daily operations of the facility, according to the internal procedures and guidelines, and with the objective to create a supportive and protective environment, working individually and collectively with the UMC.
- Ensure security of accommodated UMC at all times, including during night, weekends and public holidays and keep track of the exits and return of UMC as well as of the visitors of the facility.
- In the event of a crisis or emergency, undertake crisis management protocol, by, initially, informing other staff and/ or the supervisor, receiving and acting per relevant instructions, that includes, notifying local authorities if needed.
- Take measures for the prevention of damages of equipment and building structures of the facility, while guiding UMC in respecting and functionally using them.
- Have an overview of the general hygiene and living conditions in accommodation rooms, in cooperation with the UMC and facility staff (cleaners) and based on the daily routines and regulations identified in the facility.
- In cooperation with other staff members in the facility, organize the UMC’s daily routine and structured daily activities, in the context of the implementation of the individualized daily schedule. Provide support to educational and recreational activities, as needed.
- Drive and escort UMC to social and/or medical services when necessary.
- Support the UMC on night-time preparations and be present during night shifts according to the weekly schedule.
- Assist with the distribution of basic goods, ensure time replacement, reception and storing of the items, and notify the supervisor if further items and distributions are needed.
- Frequently review the conditions of food and ensure that all meals are served in the agreed times.
- Assist the UMC in accessing laundry services and issue laundry schedules.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned. Education
- High school degree/certificate with at least two years of certified work experience on care and protection of Unaccompanied Minors. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred;
- Previous experience at an IOM Emergency Accommodation Facility is an asset;
- Familiar with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees preferred;
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment an advantage. Skills
- Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc) will be considered an asset;
- Willingness to work in day/night shifts, during holidays and weekends;
- Valid driver’s license with at least five years driving experience an advantage.
- Flexibility and capacity in conflict resolution;
- Good communication skills, personal commitment and efficiency. Languages

For this position, fluency in Greek is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of English, French or any other language of communication with beneficiaries an advantage.
