JOB CONTEXT:
This is a call for applicants interested into joining our pool of Operations and/or Area Managers in one of our 50 countries programmes around the world. Depending on the set up of the mission:

-        the Operations Manager is located in capital city,

-        the Area Manager is located on a base, in the field.

YOUR MISSION:
Under the responsibility of the Program Director, you, as the Area Manager, contribute within the country where you are based to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Handicap International. You ensure optimal quality and impact of the projects implemented in the country, through a delegation system with appropriate control mechanisms.
You share with all HI managers the responsibility of a sound management and successful functioning of the global organization, through paradigm chain.
Your priorities will be to:

-        Structure the base in terms of means and process (teams, premises, coordination etc.)

-        Launch and develop emergency intervention in geographical perimeter while taking into consideration contextual changes

In this framework, your main missions are:

Mission 1: Management

-        The manager should embody HI's values on a daily basis, serve as a role model, and guide the team by giving meaning to the strategy and translating it into operational objectives.

-        He/She should encourage innovation, inter and intra-departmental exchanges, and risk-taking.

-        As an operational manager, he/she organizes the team's work, manages performance, and solve problems.

-        As a coach, develops team's skills, ensures commitment and professionalism, and compliance with the code of conduct and expected behaviors.

Mission 2: Strategy and steering

-        Contribute to the development of the programme operational strategy, and to its implementation and annual monitoring

-        Implement the project part of the Programme\u2019s Operational Strategy

Mission 3 : Standards and expertise

-        Ensure deployment and compliance with HI global frameworks, institutional policies and standards 

Mission 4: Operational implementation

-        Ensure the sound management and monitoring of projects under his/her responsibility

-        Keeping both potential opportunities and risks in mind, contribute to the monitoring and analysis done by the line manager, and propose mitigation measures where relevant

-        Develop HI\u2019s external influence (forums, operational and strategic alliances, etc.) and the external representation of the organization (events, media) in his/her area of responsibility.

-        Coordinate the teams in his/her area

-        Support the Director/Country Manager in monitoring security in their area and ensure adequate resources according to the context

Requirements

YOUR PROFILE:

\u00b7        You have at least 3 years of professional experience in Area/Field/project management in challenging humanitarian contexts, as well as experience working in complex and conflict affected regions.

\u00b7        You have a proven experience in managerial and security management experience.

\u00b7        You have experiences on donor relations, external relations, fundraising and strategic positioning.

\u00b7        You know how design and coordinate of complex emergency interventions.

\u00b7        You have strong and solid management and communication skills.

\u00b7        You are fluent in English (oral and written)

\u00b7        You show strong organizational skills, you are autonomous and reactive.

- You are willing to travel frequently and work in remote, insecure areas.

\u00b7        The international contract provides social cover adapted to your situation:

\u00b7        Salary from 2870 \u20ac gross/month upon experience 

\u00b7        The perdiem and the hardship allowances will depend on the country of the mission.

\u00b7        Paid leaves: 25 days per year;

\u00b7        R&R: according to the level of the mission + possible transport/package support.

\u00b7        Depending on the security level of the mission the position can be open to couple or family (as from 12 months of mission) with associated package.
