The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the relevant project manager and the overall guidance of the Chief of Section. For more information on UNODC, please visit www.unodc.org ResponsibilitiesWithin assigned authority, the incumbent will provide coordination and administrative support with the implementation of project activities within the thematic and regional areas assigned to the Section. The incumbent is responsible for undertaking the following specific duties/tasks: • Provide assistance with the organization and implementation of substantive activities of the Section, including those related to Preventing Violent Extremism activities of the Section, amongst others; • Support the development of project proposals on assigned thematic and regional areas, including organizing discussions with counterparts and donors and ensuring that each proposal is based on the stated needs of the beneficiary countries, and contributing to the preparation of project proposal narratives and budgets, including the drafting and editing. • Contribute to overall programme coordination and management of capacity building projects through support for the organizational, logistics, administrative, and financial aspects, including recruitment of consultants, procurement and budgetary matters; identify problems and issues to be addressed and recommend corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions. • Assist and contribute to the drafting of relevant project reports, related fund-raising and support project monitoring and evaluation. • Provide assistance to ensuring that the work programme and the activities are carried out in coordination with other relevant entities, including UNODC regional desk, country and regional offices and other global programmes, and in liaison with relevant organizations of the United Nations system and as well as with other international/regional organizations and Member States. • Contribute to the preparation of promotional materials, various written outputs, including background papers, briefing material/notes, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications and, as required, official correspondence of the Section/Branch. Make presentations, as needed, on assigned topics. • Contribute to carrying out programmatic and administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Section, such as coordination of the preparation of the Sections’ workplans, programme monitoring and programme reporting on the work of the Section. • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Perform other work-related duties as required. Work experience in law, including legal analysis and research related to terrorism prevention is desirable. Work experience in implementing capacity building activities related to preventing violent extremism in Asia is desirable. Experience in organizing meetings, conferences, seminars etc., including their substantive, logistic and administrative aspects is desirable. Work experience within the United Nations system or other international organizations is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
