NIB's Legal Department, headed by the General Counsel, handles all legal aspects of NIB’s lending and treasury activities and provides legal support to institutional and administrative matters.
The Legal Department is now looking for an Associate Counsel to join the Lending Operations Unit which provides legal services to NIB’s Lending Department. The Counsel will work closely with the Unit’s other lawyers and under the general supervision of the Unit Head.
The position is full-time for a fixed period of two (2) years with start preferably in February 2024.
The responsibilities include:
• Draft and negotiate agreements (e.g. Loan and Guarantee Agreements, Non-disclosure Agreements, Amendments and Waivers).
• Review legal opinions and other conditions of disbursement documents and approve loan disbursements.
• Manage contacts and negotiations with the clients and their legal counsels and handle the administrative formalities which have legal nature and implications.
• Assist the Unit’s lawyers in structured finance, project finance and PPP transactions.
• Provide guidance to administrative staff on processing of transaction documentation.
• Contribute to research on issues of law arising in connection with NIB’s financing activities.
• Carry out any other complementary duties or any ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Unit Head or transaction lawyers.
Qualifications and skills:
• Master of Laws degree (LLM or equivalent).
• 1-2 years' professional experience working with preparation and negotiation of legal agreements; familiarity with contract law and/or financing transactions is appreciated.
• Excellent command of the English language, including a demonstrated skill to draft and negotiate legal documents in English. Skills in Scandinavian languages are considered an asset.
• Solid IT skills and ability to use basic IT applications and programmes.
• Good analytical and organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills and interest in working in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as a part of a team.
• Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
