Assistant Integration Officer
Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Assistant Integration Officer may be part of the Protection or Durable Solutions or Development team, may supervise some support staff, and normally works under the direct supervision of a more senior Protection or Durable Solutions or Development staff or Head of Field/Sub-Office.
The Assistant Integration Officer will participate in research and providing policy and technical advice, guidance and training on integration of refugees and internally displaced persons in the given country context(s), including on methodologies for evaluating integration policies and programs. In addition, he/she will promote the establishment and implementation of resettlement programs through capacity building activities, provision of policy and technical support for the selection, reception, and integration of resettled refugees, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
The task requires direct contact with the target population in assessing needs and evaluating legislative and other measures, taking into account aspects such as age, gender, and diversity.

Desired Candidate Profile Operational Context
The war in Ukraine triggered the displacement of more than 570,000 refugees to the Czech Republic who applied and received temporary protection in the country. Today over 370,000 continue to seek refuge in Czechia. While the Czech Republic is not a frontline state, it is amongst the top 3 destinations for Ukrainian fleeing the war due in part to a large pre – existing Ukrainian diaspora and a strong performing job market amongst other.
As the war in Ukraine enters its third year and hopes for a short displacement period become increasingly elusive a growing number of refugees are seeking assistance in their inclusion process. The areas of support span a wide range of sectors from access to social services and education to the identification of job opportunities and long – term affordable accommodation. As the demand grows the pressure on national systems, local authorities and national service providers have become increasingly severe with emergency measures gradually needing to evolve into long – term solutions. While Czechia has a well-established national system to support refugee integration, the nature of the response and the number of refugees from Ukraine expanded the scope of needs to a ‘whole-of society’ approaches and integration policies.
Transitioning from an emergency strategy to interventions that support and promote sustainable integration of refugees in the country in line with 2024 RRP strategic objectives, , UNHCR Czechia is creating a national officer position to support the implementation of the office integration strategy and act as focal point for Government counterparts and all relevant integration actors. Priority actions will include addressing the integration challenges of refugees with a priority focus on vulnerable groups, facilitating the dialogue with and engagement of refugees and local communities in integration initiatives, foster refugee labour market inclusion, targeting both refugees from Ukraine and other asylum seekers and refugees in the country, etc.
The position is based in Prague with regular travel in Czechia and occasional travel abroad. The Assistant Integration Officer will report to the Senior Protection Officer. . The Assistant Integration Officer will closely work internally with colleagues in other units to ensure a coordinated approach. . S/he will also ensure strong coordination with partner organizations; organizations member of the Refugee Coordination Forum, refugee and community led organizations, and other relevant stakeholders. The Assistant Integration Officer will supervise one person.

UNHCR National Office in the Czech Republic operates under the Representation for Central Europe (MCO Hungary), which covers 4 countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia).
Language Requirements

Remuneration:
In case of appointment, a competitive compensation and benefits package is offered.
NO-A monthly salary range: NET CZK 85,711 - CZK 105,464
Benefits:
Annual leave: UNHCR staff members holding a fixed-term appointment will accrue annual leave at the rate of 2.5 working days for each full calendar months of service (i.e. 30 working days per year).
Pension system: Staff members holding a fixed-term appointment will become participants in the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF).
Health insurance plan: locally recruited staff members in the Czech Republic will be enrolled in the National Health System of Czech Republic.
