About this position

We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and team-oriented finance professional as an Asset Liability Management (ALM) Specialist. As an ALM Specialist, you will support all IRRBB (Interest Rate Risk on the Banking Book) analyses and strategies to manage balance sheet risk. This includes interest rate exposure analyses, development of hedging strategies, trading activity as required, and performance (income and valuation) attribution and strategies to manage fair value asset and liabilities accounting asymmetries. You will also support the broader Capital Adequacy Framework strategies to generate lending capacity on the balance sheet.

You will work in the ALM Team, part of the Treasury Department, responsible for interest rate risk management, capital optimization, and balance sheet management strategy.

What you’ll do:

Perform and use analysis on the interest rate risk of the banking book to understand the risk profile, using the following techniques: (i) Earnings at Risk, (ii) Economic value of equity, (iii) Duration of equity, (iv) PV01 (Present Value on 1 basis point) Build and maintain relationships with other internal stakeholders, such as the Office of Risk Management Group and its Strategic Risk Management (SRM) team. Monitor financial markets and propose the optimal risk position of the balance sheet to take advantage of both the balance sheet structure and the potential changes in interest rates. Look for market opportunities to improve further management of IDB’s interest rate exposure to stabilize NII (Net Interest Income). Conduct independent analysis of data and information to validate the appropriateness of applied models and confirm the reasonableness of data generated. Participate in the technical and operational implementation of our Treasury Management System and other related systems projects. Participate in intra- and inter-departmental working groups, missions, and other initiatives aiming to structure and deliver financing and debt management solutions to Bank borrowers. Help the implementation of the ALM framework in establishing an ALM book in IDB trading systems and General Ledger. Lead the effort in executing internal and market-facing transactions to transition to the ALM booking model. Trade (i) Interest rate/currency swaps and options, (ii) FX and Commodity options, and (iii) any other type of hedges as of basis exposure management. This includes analysis, pricing, recommendation, and negotiation. Collaborate in proposing ALM implementation strategies to achieve the optimal position, using various instruments such as interest rate swaps, fixed-income securities, fixed-rate loans, etc. Support balance sheet optimization strategies under the G20 sponsor Capital Adequacy Framework (CAF).

What you'll need

Education: Master’s degree (Masters and CFA preferred) in Finance, Business Administration, Math, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in market risk management, capital markets, derivatives, and asset liability management Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
