SOBRE EL WFP
El Programa Mundial de Alimentos (WFP), es un organismo de las Naciones Unidas que lucha contra el hambre y la malnutrición en todo el mundo. En República Dominicana, WFP apoya al Gobierno en sus esfuerzos por alcanzar el Hambre Cero (ODS 2) y reducir la malnutrición.
PROPÓSITO
WFP trabaja con el gobierno en contribuir a mejorar las políticas y programas de nutrición y seguridad alimentaria del país, para reducir la triple carga de la malnutrición, y fomentar entornos alimentarios saludables que permitan el acceso a una dieta saludable, nutritiva y accesible.
Esto incluye el trabajo con las instancias de salud, protección social, educación del sector púbico, sociedad civil y otros organismos de cooperación; para fortalecer sus capacidades institucionales, promoviendo intervenciones integradas para mejorar la nutrición aplicando el enfoque de sistemas alimentarios.
En la República Dominicana, se han implementado proyectos para contribuir a reducir la malnutrición de las poblaciones más vulnerables, principalmente sobrepeso, obesidad y anemia en poblaciones clave, mejorando sus prácticas de nutrición con el soporte de los servicios de salud, educación, trabajo comunitario y los gobiernos locales. Asimismo, en ha trabajado estrechamente con el gobierno para fortalecer las políticas de fortificación de alimentos.
Se requiere un profesional que apoye la gestión estratégica de las acciones de WFP vinculadas a las políticas de nutrición y salud pública. Ello implica el trabajo articulado con la jefatura de la Unidad, la oficial de programas de protección social, y el acompañamiento a los proyectos de campo en coordinación e involucrando a las contrapartes de gobierno, socios cooperantes y otros actores claves a nivel nacional.
FINALIDAD DEL PUESTO
Gestionar y brindar asistencia estratégica a la Unidad de Protección Social integrando Nutrición y Salud Pública para la implementación de intervenciones programáticas con énfasis en políticas de gobierno que se enfocan en Hambre Cero. Trabajará bajo la supervisión de la Jefatura de la Unidad.
