This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our office in Washington DC Office. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. To be eligible for this position, you must be a resident of DC, Maryland or Virginia at the start of employment.

About the Program:

Restore Local, part of The Audacious Project’s 2023 cohort, provides Restoration Champions across the continent with the support they need. Building on the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100), founded in 2015, the four-year project will restore Africa’s vital landscapes by investing in locally led restoration at scale.

Job Highlight:

Reporting to Strategic Communication Manager, Restoration, you will support the Restoration team’s public awareness and strategic communication and engagement efforts through music, art, education and outreach.

What will you do:

Music (40%): -

  • Liaise with the team to define actions that can be encouraged through awareness, engagement and education, and design
  • Collaborate with (local) musicians and cultural artists to create region-specific music and art that resonates with local communities

    Education (30%): -

    • Support the Restoration’s Communications Team to organize community events, festivals, and workshops to inspire and motivate diverse audiences

      Art (30%): -

      • Conduct and design music and art workshops and interactive sessions with local youth to instill pride in their cultural heritage and environment

        What will you need:

        • Education: You have completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent work experience
        • Experience: You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in music, art and / or education and a demonstrated skill to engage with different audiences to use this to create social impact
        • Languages: English proficiency and preferably one other language
        • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization

          Potential Salary: US salary range is between 84,000 and 92,000 USD. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
