Purpose of Job:

This is a 12 month short term assignment, based in the Tunis RO.

Under the supervision of Principal Manager/ Regional Principal Manager the Analyst is responsible for delivering instruments, activities and any other delegated tasks under Advice for Small Businesses Programme (“ASB”) in line with strategic priorities of the Bank and SME Finance and Development (“SME F&D”) (e.g. synergy with banking, integrated products, green, digital, inclusion, sustainable supply chain financing) and in coordination with relevant teams internally (e.g. Financial Instruments, Industry Commerce and Agribusiness, Inclusion, Policy and other relevant teams). The Analyst will perform in full alignment with Bank’s policies and procedures, donor requirements, internal control and compliance standards, as well as the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct working with credible and respectable counterparts. The Analyst will be responsible for clients’ pipeline development, project conception and implementation/monitoring, evaluation, as well as portfolio management and its assessment. Responsibilities will also include market and sector development activities, digital outreach, cooperation with relevant partners and stakeholders, as well as input for visibility activities.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of Principal Manager / Regional Principal Manager the Analyst will be responsible for:

• Business development to contribute to generating pipeline of high quality clients and advisory projects in priority areas (e.g. digital, green, inclusion, innovation) and ensuring maximum synergy of advisory and banking (e.g. Integrated Products - Women in Business, Youth in Business; Risk Sharing Facility; Supply Chain Financing, Blue Ribbon, Star Venture).

• Contributing to the development and implementation of the innovative and ambitious ASB Annual Operational Plan for the country, as well as other operational activities under SME F&D.

• Project origination and conception (including identifying potential advisory clients, assessing the potential current and future advisory and funding needs of the clients and prospects, and identifying consultants), implementation and monitoring, evaluation of advisory projects in line with internal policy, quality and compliance standards, as well as for portfolio management.

• Contributing to regular portfolio assessment to generate ideas for follow up support and new initiatives.

• Following market trends with the focus on priority areas contribute to the development of innovative ideas and products to address evolving market trends and needs.

• Responsibilities will also include preparation and delivery of market and sector development activities, digital outreach, as well as input for visibility activities for maximum visibility of ASB and donors.

• Contribute the enhancement of the consultancy database that is offering a broad pool of expertise, the competitive selection of high quality and integrity consultants in accordance with policy and procedures, as well as ensuring also that the consultants deliver in accordance with high integrity standards and the terms of reference.

• Cooperating with banking teams in any phase of banking projects cycle including in identifying high potential banking clients – e.g. Blue Ribbon clients, analysing their financials and monitoring portfolio companies’ performance, and nourishing them for financing, and where applicable participate as a team member on banking deals.

• Where relevant, preparing and submitting for review accurate and timely Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs), keeping adequate and well-organised documentation in support of all local payments in line with EBRD's duties for prudent management of donor funds.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Education/Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Business, Economics, Finance or equivalent work experience)

Experience

• Relevant professional experience, preferably from commercial management consultancy/auditing company, development institutions or financial institution (banks).

• Good knowledge of and experience working in at least one of the SME F&D Priority Areas (i.e. green economy, economic inclusion, sustainable supply chains, risk sharing facility, and digitalisation), as well as market trends in these areas.

• Knowledge of business advisory services.

• Knowledge of local business environment and consultancy market.

• Knowledge of relevant stakeholders and SME business associations or support organizations.

Skills

• Strong business advisory and consultancy skills.

• Business/financial analytical skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understand local accounting principles and conduct financial analysis.

• Strong project management and organisational skills.

• Strong problem solving skills and ability to think creatively.

• Effective communication, presentation and negotiation skills and ability to manage relations with clients, consultants and other stakeholders.

• Skills to develop and maintain strong relationship with relevant stakeholders.

• Strong writing skills; experience in writing advisory project proposals, terms of references or reports desirable.

• Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Fluency in French.

• Computer literate: excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Power Point, ability to learn new systems quickly.

• Knowledge of marketing and social media desirable.
