About NRC:

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental humanitarian organization with 75 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, food security, livelihoods, legal Assistance, and water, sanitation, and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 6000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. NRC runs the world's largest standby roster, NORCAP, with 650 professionals ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.  

NRC in the Islamic Republic of Iran:

NRC started operations in Iran in 2012. We currently deliver humanitarian assistance in 10 provinces in Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counseling, and Legal Assistance (ICLA). We co-lead several technical inter-agency working groups and provide capacity building to humanitarian partners in the country. Next to our programs, NRC Iran also built an advocacy unit to develop joint messages and initiatives among INGOs to improve the rights of the displaced.   Following several recent breakthroughs, NRC Iran is scaling up substantially its activities in support of the Government of Iran's efforts towards an estimated 3,6 million Afghans residing in the country and is expanding its programme unit.

Role and responsibilities

The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities:

Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines  Implement delegated support function portfolio according to the plan of action  Prepare and develop status reports as required by management  Ensure proper filing of documents both physically and electronically and develop file management systems  Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function  Promote the rights of refugees and displaced in line with the advocacy strategy  Identify and report protection needs and gaps, explore and propose new and safer ways to assist 

Specific responsibilities 

Develop a Recording system for physical and electronic archives of all communications with national-level government authorities and keep a record of all outgoing and incoming communications.  Draft and submit communications with national-level stakeholders.  Assist with harmonized and credible translation of documents from English to Persian and vice-versa.  Develop administrative tools and apply existing procedures to ensure timely and effective implementation of Government Liaison’s activities.  Monitoring national and regional media to highlight developments relevant to the work of NRC in the I.R. of Iran.  Assist with liaising with national-level stakeholders to ensure the timely receiving of the required permissions  Collaborating for NRC participants needs assessment and interviews

Professional competencies

Generic professional competencies:

Experience working in an administrative role for at least 2 years is desirable  Previous experience from working in complex and humanitarian contexts would be a plus point  Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities  Proficiency in English both oral and written 

Context related skills, knowledge and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or related fields is an asset Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)

Contract: 3 month probation with possibility of extension

Salary: based on NRC grade structure - This position is grade 4 of the organizational grading and structure
