Where you come in:
In this full-time maximum term position (through to the 30/06/2024) based in Townsville, you’ll provide transition support and case management for young people who hail from Mount Isa, Doomadgee and Mornington Island who are in detention.
This position will require you to visit Cleveland Youth Detention Centre a number of times a week to engage young people and liaise with stakeholders and families in community to ensure the young person has key supports as they touch down on release from detention. As part of our Youth Services team, you’ll report to our Team Leader – Youth Services.

Provision of quality service delivery Engagement with young people and families Stakeholder relationship management Monitoring and evaluation of program outcomes

You have a passion for assisting young people on Bail reach their full potential by ensuing their voice is central to goal setting and redirecting them from the Youth Justice system.
The role requires:
Demonstrated skills and experience working with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, young people disengaged with the school system, young people in contact with the justice system and those who have experienced Trauma Demonstrated experience in youth work / case management roles An understanding of complex intergenerational trauma Strong verbal and written communication skills An understanding of child protection concerns and commitment to responding safely and effectively Sound time management and organizational skills, and ability to manage and plan own workload
