Under the direct supervision of the CT & Protection Officer, NOA, and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission of IOM Washington, DC, the Senior Project Associate will provide support to the US State Department funded “Emergency Victim Assistance Fund for Victims of Trafficking” outside of the United States as well as the Counter-Trafficking and Protection Unit more broadly.
The Emergency Victim Assistance Fund is a US Department of State, TIP Office-funded project launched in 2012 with the aim of providing urgent, short-to-medium term assistance to victims of trafficking worldwide. The project involves extensive case management and reporting to the donor.
The Senior Project Associate will support the overall implementation of EVA through case management and coordination with requesting IOM missions. In addition, the Senior Project Associate will support with project visibility and communications by assisting in the development of a project communication plan and working closely with IOM missions and the donor to disseminate project materials and content. in context details xxx
- Independently coordinate the implementation of case management for the Emergency Victim Assistance Fund; monitor implementation of the activities to ensure work is proceeding according to established plans;
- In collaboration with the CT & Protection Officer, coordinate the review, updating and implementation of the EVA communication and knowledge management strategies within IOM, with the donor as well as external partners.
- Plan, coordinate, monitor trips and support with technical tasks to relevant internal and external parties.
- Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, and presentations; ensure status reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
- Research and draft communication materials such as press releases, blog posts, factsheets, info sheets, newsletters, podcasts, and other audio-visual feature materials including photos, video and audio among others, for publication in key specialist and general-interest media, and CT platforms and networks globally.
- Assist in day-to-day implementation, particularly in matters related the logistical, financial and administrative aspects of the project. This may include:
- Respond to program inquiries and confirming receipt of screening forms from IOM Missions and referring partners that are working with victims of trafficking outside of the US;
- Follow-up with referring Missions and partners to gather all necessary information to assist the case, such as known risks;
- Communicate with IOM Missions and referring US-based NGOs regarding case-work;
- Coordinate with IOM Missions to arrange international travel, airport assistance, and escorts, as needed;
- Follow-up with IOM Missions in country of origin and country of destination for each case to gather all related information;
- Assist in the organization and maintenance of Emergency Victim Assistance Fund case data by regularly updating the Emergency Victim Assistance Fund database;
- Travel to IOM Missions as needed to support Emergency Victim Assistance Fund cases
- Assist in providing quality assurance of case-related materials including screening forms, reports, success stories, etc.
- Identify and document good practices and lessons learned; contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs), policies and concept papers and support the development of new projects.

- High school diploma with seven years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience. - Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience working in case management;
- Experience in working directly with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. Skills
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization;
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming;
- Knowledge of US Government donors and processes (in particular JTIP) is an advantage
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.) Languages
- Fluent in English.
