Senior Executive - Visitor Services - Internal Application Only

ICRISAT seeks applications from highly motivated and qualified professionals for the position of Senior Execuitve - Visitor Services the Senior Executive - Visitor Services will play a key role in designing and delivering engaging visitor programs that effectively communicate ICRISAT’s mission, research, and impact. The role involves coordination with internal and external stakeholders, presentation of ICRISAT’s work to diverse audiences, and management of visitor facilities to enhance stakeholder engagement. This position is based in ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Telangana, India.

ICRISAT is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with a wide array of partners throughout the world. Covering 6.5 million square kilometres of land in 55 countries, the semi- arid or dryland tropics has over 2 billion people and 644 million of these are the poorest of the poor. ICRISAT and its partners help empower these disadvantaged populations to overcome poverty, hunger and a degraded environment through better agricultural production systems.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate meaningful engagement between visitors and ICRISAT’s scientific and management teams.

Communicate research themes, innovations, and impacts to diverse audiences, including farmers, students, policymakers, and VIPs.

Ensure efficient management and continuous improvement of visitor service areas.

Enhance ICRISAT’s visibility and credibility through well-structured visitor programs.

Share inspiring visitor program updates with ICRISAT leadership, stakeholders, and staff.

  

Program Design & Coordination

 

Develop and implement visitor programs tailored to different audience segments – Farmers, Students, Scientists, etc.

Coordinate visitor interactions with relevant scientific and management teams.

Conduct guided tours and presentations covering ICRISAT’s research in Asia and Africa.

Presentation & Communication

Deliver presentations that effectively communicate ICRISAT’s work across research areas.

Engage with diverse audiences, from farmers to policymakers and international delegates.

Keep abreast of key organizational initiatives, partnerships, and events.

Ensure accurate and up-to-date information is shared during presentations.

Document the experience of visitors through photography, video testimonials, and surveys.

Support the weekly development and dissemination of the Happenings Newsletter.

Visitor Service Area Management

 

Oversee the Sohlberg Visitors Center and SAT Venture to ensure their functionality and appeal.

Maintain exhibits, multimedia equipment, and facilities in optimal condition.

Propose and implement improvements to enhance visitor experience.

Stakeholder Engagement & Feedback Management

 

Collect and analyse visitor feedback to inform continuous improvements.

Strengthen institutional credibility by fostering trust among visitors and partners.

Ensure effective communication and coordination with institutional stakeholders.

Reporting & Process Enhancement

 

Maintain visitor records and compile periodic reports on visitor trends and feedback.

Work closely with the Senior Manager to enhance visitor services and facilities.

Identify and implement innovative approaches to improve service delivery.

Perform any other tasks assigned by the Senior Manager – Visitor Services and Protocol Management.

Requirements/Experience: -

 

Master’s degree in agriculture or allied subjects, Communications, Public Relations, Environmental Science, or a related field

Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

With atleast 1 year of experience in a similar role in visitor engagement, program coordination.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and the public.

Proficiency in using multimedia presentation tools and visitor management systems.

General:

This is Contractual position initially for a period of three years (36 months) renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute’s continuing need for the position.
