The TeamAs part of the IT Enterprise Data Solutions (EDS) department, the Data Infrastructure team’s mission is to lead on data technology and utilization, enabling informed decision-making, knowledge management, and strategic insights across the Foundation. We are committed to providing a robust, secure, and scalable data infrastructure that enables data-driven initiatives and cultivates collaboration. Working with our business operations and Foundation strategy program partners, the team supports the management of on-premises and cloud data infrastructure, data governance and privacy platforms, building out an Enterprise Data Platform for Data Science and AI, data security and access controls and EDS technology stack and roadmaps.

Your Role

As the Technical Program Manager, you will support the Data Infrastructure team with a specific focus on planning, execution, and delivery. You will partner with a multidisciplinary team of platform engineers, data governance specialists, Infosec and legal teams, data scientists, data engineers and business stakeholders across our organization. You will have the opportunity to solve deeply technical, challenging problems focused on supporting and building a compelling data platform that helps operations and programmatic users.

Data Infrastructure team is responsible for the end-to-end life cycle of data at from infrastructure provisioning, automation, monitoring, data governance, and securing data to making it available to users across the company for AI, ML and Analytics use cases. As a Technical Program Manager, you will play a key role within Data Infrastructure team, driving cross functional projects that span the organization. Our data infrastructure is constantly redefining what is possible, and we need program managers that can do the same.

What You’ll Do

  • Be responsible for defining and delivering important data infrastructure projects and initiatives with broad organizational, business and technical impact.

  • Drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions including reducing the manual efforts through automation.

  • Standardize tech stack, bring strong, data-driven and strategic technical judgment to decisions.

  • Prioritize and align the build-out of data platforms with the overall data strategy

  • Identify opportunities to improve execution of the organization, to increase data science and engineering productivity through tools and process improvements

  • Experience working cross functionally with engineers, architects, data scientists, AI engineers and other functions involved in the data life cycle especially in earlier phases when architecture are not yet well defined

  • Proactively identify and analyze complex, long-term, critical infrastructure problems with engineering leaders and stakeholders

  • Developing project plans, timelines, resource allocation strategies and ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives

  • Ability to ask the right technical questions, make appropriate trade-offs, and ensure project success

  • Collaborate with technical and business owners to define program requirements, set priorities, and establish scope which includes defining the roadmap and long-term strategy with the teams that you are partnering

  • Partner with cross functional teams to drive technical analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases

  • Manage cross functional dependencies, risks, and changes effectively by optimizing scope, schedule, and resources accordingly

  • Develop and own communication plans to effectively and proactively communicate program status, issues, and risks to stakeholders

  • Define and track key metrics and key quality and performance indicators and drive cross functional execution of program deliverables.

    Your Experience

    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

    • 5+ years of program management experience in data platform or related roles, with a focus on designing and managing data platform and data governance.

    • 8+ years of demonstrated industry experience and expertise leading medium to large complex projects in current cloud technologies.

    • 5+ years of experience in cloud data platforms, preferably in Azure.

    • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of platform and data architecture, design, data management and azure cloud data services.

    • Experience and strong understanding of automated platform provisioning, using industry standard tools such as Terraform.

    • Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Jira required.

    • Ability to influence stakeholders and build alignment around vision

    • Ability to prioritize multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment

    • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical groups.

    • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) with the ability to adapt based on project requirements.

    • Strong knowledge of facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, change management, empowerment, and increasing transparency.

    • Agile, Scrum, and/or Project Management certifications are a plus.

    • Experience with ADLS, Databricks and Snowflake is a plus

    • Experience with Collibra and OneTrust is a plus

      • Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.

      • The salary range for this role is $151,200 to $226,800 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle and Washington D.C., where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $164,700 to $247,100 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
