POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Senior Technical Officer, Knowledge Management & Capacity Building (KMCB)

Location: Abuja

Supervisor: Technical Director, EpiC

Basic Function:

The Senior Technical Officer, Knowledge Management & Capacity Building will provide technical support to the Meeting Targets and Achieving Epidemic Control (EpiC) team on capacity building and knowledge management. S/He will support EpiC management team to Create processes to capture, organize, and maintain knowledge, including documents and data and foster a knowledge management and sharing culture within the team. S/He will also provide technical support to the project in the areas of capacity needs assessments, training plan development, learning strategies, and training evaluation reports.

Duties and responsibilities:

Knowledge Management

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a knowledge management strategy and communications plan that aligns with FHI360 goals and objectives.
  • Manage, develop, and maintain a standardized system to organize, document, archive, and disseminate knowledge gained from the EpiC project.
  • Coordinate development and regular update of the project’s over-arching brief, including areas of focus, capabilities, and success stories.
  • Coordinate with project staff to synthesize and make available strategic information across teams and focus areas for internal or external dissemination and archiving.
  • Facilitate the development, collation, and review of content for project materials including reports, briefs, newsletter, and other relevant publications from draft to final document copyedits including infographics, diagrams, and illustrations.
  • Ensure compliance with established organizational and donor policies and procedures related to the production of reports, briefs, newsletter, and other relevant project publications.
  • Serve as the communications point of contact for EpiC Nigeria and share regular content for publication within the country office communication team as required.
  • Create and/or manage knowledge-sharing platforms/thought leadership sessions such as webinars, online platforms.
  • Curate and maintain a centralized knowledge repository to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.
  • Conduct regular audits of knowledge repositories to ensure data relevance and applicability.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement using technological tools
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with all departments and units to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Design and deliver training sessions to drive learning and development of the team and professional development.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and developments in knowledge management to ensure the effectiveness of FHI 360’s knowledge management strategy.

    Capacity Building

    • Facilitate the development, administer, and analyze capacity needs assessments for project staff (and beneficiaries) periodically.
    • Work with the project team to develop, implement and document capacity development plan(s) to foster capacity improvement and aid effective program planning, implementation, and monitoring.
    • Research and recommend learning methodologies, resources and tools that most effectively build project staffs’ capacity in line with capacity development plan.
    • Facilitate a platform to support performance management and professional development of project staff, including mentoring/coaching, and career support.
    • Develop and maintain checklists and tools to effectively track implementation and specific deliverables based on capacity development plan.
    • Working with the technical team and other project staff, develop an overall capacity-building strategy that will sustainably build the capacity of, and strengthen teams within the organizations.
    • In close coordination with technical staff, develop materials and design capacity building interventions to train and mentor other facilitators (training of trainers) at the community and national levels;
    • Document successes, lessons learned and challenges in implementation as well as reports of project activities and results to the project and donor, including routine quarterly and annual reports and other reporting requirements as requested.
    • Contribute to the preparation of work plans, quarterly and annual reports, and other reports and documents that summarize the results and evidence of the project.
    • Troubleshoot to identify and resolve project issues and implement improvement plans to ensure project stays on schedule and within budget.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

      • Experience in knowledge management and capacity building in the context of public health/international development programs funded by US government or other international donors.
      • Working knowledge of major donors’ (USAID, Global Fund) knowledge management, communication, branding and marking policies.
      • Sound knowledge of ongoing and emerging issues in relation to TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS.
      • Familiarity with the scientific literature on TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS; with publications on public health issues.
      • Research background and scientific publications will be an advantage.
      • Evidence of publications (Blogs, peer review, journals, etc.) will be an advantage.
      • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate and collaborate within and across team in complex programs.
      • Demonstrated expertise in building effective relationship with key internal and external stakeholders.
      • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with partners and staff.
      • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software.
      • Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.
      • Ability to travel in Nigeria up to 10 - 25%

        Qualifications and Requirements:

        • Master’s in Public Health, or similar degrees with 5-7 years relevant experience with international development programs including at least four years specialized experience in TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS in developing country settings.
        • Or B.Sc./BA in Public Health, Business Administration, Medical Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or its recognized equivalent with a minimum of 7-9 years relevant experience with international development programs 5-7 years relevant experience in TB/HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Medical Oxygen, Mpox and GHS in developing country settings.
        • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health systems, international donor organizations, NGOs and CBOs is required.
        • Demonstrated success in multicultural environments is required.
