The TeamThe Gender Equality Division’s mission is to ensure women and girls in Africa and South Asia can enjoy good health, make their own choices, earn their own money, and be leaders in their societies. The Gender Equality (GE) Division builds off our existing strengths as a foundation in areas like global health and data, partnering closely with all our global divisions.

The Gender Impact Accelerators (GIA) team includes the Data & Insights portfolio and the Digital Connectivity portfolio. The aspirations of these teams are described below:

• Gender Data & Insights brings health and economic data expertise to bear to advance GE division goals by supporting generation of primary data and novel research, stronger in-country modelling capabilities, and a deliberate, strategic approach to leveraging AI. The team also provides in-house modelling support, develops data platforms/tools as a public good, and helps drive a data-driven culture across the division.

• The Digital Connectivity team aims to reduce the gender gap in digital adoption for women and girls to drive productive use of digital technology to advance the Gates Foundation’s health and development goals. The team is currently a learning agenda with a data and evidence pillar and a partnerships pillar.

Your Role

You lead high-impact projects in collaboration with directors and deputy directors to define, refine, and execute against priority strategic projects and initiatives. You are responsible for shaping and driving strategy efforts, including providing strategic thought partnership, project management, analytical support, content development, and facilitation. You will lead on complex projects that involve stakeholders from different foundation teams and at times include external partners. You’ll also provide ad hoc support as needed for shorter-term strategy needs that emerge, including supporting the team on priority investments and leadership touchpoints. This may require developing content, conducting analysis, making and managing investments, and coordinating across partners internal and external to the foundation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead strategic thinking and problem solving for a collaborative functional team; build strong partnerships with internal teams, technical experts, and country offices.
  • Scope, lead, and execute high-priority strategic initiatives in partnership with GIA leadership and key stakeholders—this includes ongoing thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, research and analysis, content development, and potentially investment-related decision-making.
  • Contribute to initiatives such as leveraging AI to advance foundation goals; researching economic interventions' impact on health outcomes for women and girls; and shaping a long-term vision for sustainable, country-led health and development data systems.
  • Deeply engage in programmatic work to quickly build context and accelerate impact.
  • Design and implement creative approaches to guide group processes, manage conflict, and foster alignment.
  • Use strategic frameworks and critical thinking to assess options, challenge assumptions, and inform decisions.
  • Model inclusive behaviors, support a strong team culture, and elevate concerns to the appropriate stakeholders as needed.
  • Lead the development of high-quality communications—including strategy reviews, learning sessions, and leadership briefings—by synthesizing input, crafting recommendations, and ensuring clarity and rigor in deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sr. Manager overseeing strategic planning, investment development, and operational processes such as budgeting, forecasting, and annual planning.
