Job Summary/Responsibilities:
FHI 360 designs and implements academic, professional, sports, cultural, and youth exchange programs for students and emerging leaders around the world. We are seeking a Senior Program Officer to lead an international exchange component of the Sports Visitor and Sports Envoy Program.
Responsibilities include coordinating with the U.S. Department of State on the administration of travel and program arrangements for outbound Sports Envoys; oversight of pre-departure logistics and orientation; procurement of materials and supplies for program activities; and conducting program evaluation. Other duties may include coordination of other sports diplomacy and international exchange activities, as determined by the Project Director.
Works with Project Director and client to plan roster and timeline for Sports Envoy and Envoy Fellow activities, including preparing call for proposals from U.S. Embassies;
Oversees creation of pre-departure orientation materials highlighting travel logistics and program themes;
Oversees scheduling of U.S. domestic and international travel, including flights, immunizations, visas, security briefings, and enrollment in DOS Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges;
Oversees procurement and shipping of Sports Diplomacy apparel and materials to international program locations;
Serve as travel duty officer and/or oversee staff performing this duty;
Conduct post-program survey to evaluate program effectiveness;
Facilitate virtual engagement in the event of a pause on travel and in-person activities, or as an enhancement to in-person activities;
Supervises program assistant activities to ensure the timely planning and implementation of all project logistics and materials;
Tracks performance against project timelines, budget, objectives, and deliverables;
Monitors budgets, ensuring accountability and compliance with FHI 360 and client requirements;
Maintains contact with client staff and other stakeholders throughout the assigned Envoy or Fellow program; making adjustments to or changes to support and resources as judgment dictates, and managing emergency situations;
Prepares timely, accurate, and complete Sports Envoy and Envoy Fellow sections of program reports; and
Performs other duties as assigned, which may include some U.S. domestic travel in support of Sports Visitor exchange activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent – International Affairs, International Development, Political Science, Education, Conflict Resolution, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, International Business, Life/Social Sciences, Human Development or Related Field.
A minimum of 6 years’ experience with program management, cross-cultural communications, US Government rules and regulations.
Demonstrated experience working in international exchanges for a minimum of 2 years.
Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with clients, international participants, and colleagues.
Exceptional ability to manage multiple priorities; deal with inquiries and requests; and maintain close attention to detail.
Experience with budget development and project financial management.
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.
Experience with sports-based programming preferred.
Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with partners, client and staff.
Advanced Excel skills required; experience in SharePoint preferred.
