The TeamThe Business Operations division provides essential capabilities that sustain the foundation’s operational infrastructure and enable programmatic impact. We focus on building an efficient, scalable, and well-managed global organization where employees can thrive and contribute their best work. The division supports strategic alignment, resource planning, and operational excellence across the foundation’s priorities. Business Operations include Information Technology, People, the Office of the COO (OCOO) which encompasses Strategy, Planning & Management (SPM) and Initiative Design & Implementation (IDI) and Global Workplace Services (GWS).

Global Workplace Services plays a critical role in supporting the foundation’s mission by delivering safe, efficient, and inclusive work environments across our global footprint. GWS includes Global Office Operations and provides essential services such as facilities management, security operations, travel coordination, events delivery, and regional office support. Together, the GWS team ensures that employees and partners have the infrastructure, services, and workplace experience needed to advance the foundation’s mission.

Your Role

The Protective Operations team works to ensure the safety of foundation employees worldwide. The Senior Officer is responsible for high-risk journey management, emergency medical responses and assistance, medical operations, and delivering training to foundation staff.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead journey management for employees and contractors traveling into high-risk geographies; including direct support to senior leadership, and security augmentation to foundation hosted events and special activities as assigned.
  • Provide timely, thorough assessments of risks and threats to foundation activities globally, in advance of and in response to an event that could potentially threaten the safety or health of foundation people, property, or programs, and develop corresponding mitigation strategies to reduce potential impact.
  • in collaboration with the Global Security Risk Intelligence team, monitor worldwide threats and changes in risk environment that would require an elevation or de-escalation of risk rating.
  • Monitor and advise the Risk Intelligence team on changes to key vendors' assessments of regional risks.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal program teams and working groups to identify foreseeable risks and ensure appropriate protective measures are implemented for foundation staff and executives globally, aligned with the level of risk.
  • Design and maintain training programs, as assigned, for the protective operations team to maintain critical medical and security skills (e.g., emergency response, defensive tactics, advanced driving skills, and emergency medical support).
  • Review daily domestic and international threat information to identify potential threats to the foundation, provide recommendations to travelers and management, and support the Seattle campus security and emergency response teams in assessing and addressing security needs.
