Position Overview

The Senior Accountant, General Ledger, will report to the Controller. The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

This position is based in Washington, DC (hybrid schedule).

Essential Functions

Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and entering transactions.Maintains and balances general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.Perform month-end and year-end account reconciliations including preparation of working papers for auditors' review.Enter, revise, sort, calculate and create tables for analysis, account reconciliations, year-end working papers, etc.Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.Coordinate complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departmentsOther duties as assignedSelection Criteria Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.3 or more years of progressive accounting experience.Proficiency with excelUnderstanding and knowledge of automated systemsProven ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.Must be an outstanding communicator, with established skills in accuracy, organization, and experience working in a high-volume environment.
