Job Summary
The Commodities Unit of the Research Department is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Research Officer (RO) with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
The Commodities Unit provides timely assessments of energy and commodity markets developments. It produces research to enhance our understanding of commodity markets and commodity related issues including macro-critical issues linked to energy transitions and climate change. The candidate will support the CU’s commodity market surveillance agenda and contribute to analytical work of the unit.
The successful candidate should have the proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment. The Research Officer will be responsible for a wide range of support including, but not limited to, data gathering, analysis of economic or statistical data sets, and high-quality analyses. More specifically, the primary responsibility of the RO will be to work on energy, metal, and agricultural markets and climate change related issues.

Minimum Qualifications
Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, or equivalent, in economics, finance, statistics, computer science, or a related field of study is required; or a university degree, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience; Alternatively, a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience at Grade A08, or equivalent, is required.

This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business need.
