The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center is seeking an innovative & multi skilled candidate to join its office in Lahore, Pakistan, as a Research Officer \u2013 Aquaculture.
The Research Officer - Aquaculture will perform various tasks relevant to the feasibility, scalability, and economic analysis of Balochistan's aquaculture sector. The Research Officer will contribute to research and support activities focused on saline and brackish aquaculture in Balochistan.
The role involves providing technical support for economic and biophysical studies, collecting and managing data, and analyzing this data to inform technical and policy decisions. Additionally, the research officer will gather data on different fish species in saline and brackish environments, utilize quantitative methods for statistical data analysis, and participate in synthesizing research findings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct literature reviews of existing farming practices for saline and brackish aquaculture in Balochistan. Assist with designing and implementing biophysical and socio-economic surveys to better understand various farming practices in saline and brackish aquaculture environments. Provide technical support in identifying and implementing biophysical surveys, studies, and activities related to the socio-economic aspects of managing saline and marine aquaculture in Balochistan province. Collect, manage, and analyze data to inform and guide the project\u2019s technical and policy work. Collect data on various fish species in saline and brackish aquaculture. Understand quantitative methods and be familiar with statistical data analysis. Participate in the production of reports and scientific manuscripts. Assist in organizing stakeholder meetings at the local, provincial, and national levels. Assist in administrative tasks and other duties as determined by the Project Leader. Conduct quantitative analysis using different data sources, including labor force and household surveys, administrative records, and geospatial information to prepare reports and summaries on economic factors for assessing impacts (without and with project interventions). Integrate research findings into effective policy recommendations and disseminate information through relevant guidelines and policy briefs. Support the adoption of practical, science-based policy solutions and decisions by national and international partners, authorities, governments, and donors. Conduct cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses for evaluating aquaculture management and policy decisions. Perform other duties relevant to the role as assigned by the Project Leader.Requirements
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Master\u2019s degree in Zoology, Botany with statistics and quantitative analysis coursework for aquaculture management or closely related fields coupled with minimum of 03 years\u2019 research experience in aquaculture management, OR; Bachelor\u2019s degree in aforementioned fields coupled with at least 05 years of relevant work experience. Training in survey methods using primary and secondary data analysis techniques. Proven record of peer-reviewed scientific publications in well-reputed international journals. Demonstrable working experience with various stakeholders ranging from government, international development organizations, academics, and the private sector.Desirable,

This is a nationally recruited position and only Pakistani nationals will be considered.
