Tajikistan is a low-middle income country with 70% of population under the age of 30. Facing significant challenges in provision of tailored services to adolescent girls and boys, especially most marginalized, in all areas, the country is located at the early stage of its demographic dividend that, if empowerment, can contribute to the development of the country. One of the objectives of UNICEF Tajikistan Country Programme is to unlock the potential of adolescents by empowering them and involving them as drivers of development and advocates of inclusive, tolerant and peaceful societies. Adolescent Development Programme is a major component of the UNICEF Country Programme in Tajikistan. In 2016 UNICEF established a dedicated Second Decade programme/section with focus on improving adolescent health, skills and employability, participation and protection. The Adolescent Development Officer reports to the Chief of Section.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Adolescent Development Officer (ADAP) reports to Chief, ADAP for supervision. The ADAP Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process to support the adolescent and youth employability pillar of the adolescent development and participation in programmes within the Country Programme. The Officer is responsible for preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to support the development and formulation of the adolescent and youth development in the area of developing path to employability programmes/projects within the Country Programme.

Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: economics, anthropology, psychology, sociology, education or another relevant technical field.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of professional experience in workforce development, jobs creation and/or placement, in a context of innovative, entrepreneurial youth enterprises. Background in adolescent development related areas is desirable.
Experience working in private sector is considered as an asset.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English, Tajik/or Russian are required. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered as an asset.
