The CSIS Australia Chair is seeking a highly motivated and professional Program Coordinator who has a keen interest in the U.S.-Australian alliance, Australian foreign policy, Pacific Island affairs, and international security. Australia Chair operates a fast-paced, dynamic program that works to provide insights on the Pacific region and broaden the reach and impact of the U.S.-Australia alliance. Applicants should be self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to detail-oriented and can work independently and as part of a team. The Program is aiming for a March 2024 start date.
The successful candidate for this position will have a superb grounding in Indo-Pacific studies and strong interest in supporting a broad regional and functional portfolio. They will have exceptional analytical skills and a bias for action. She/he will have robust research and writing skills, including resourcefulness and creativity in identifying solutions and the ability to process and analyze large amounts of information. She/he will also be a proactive self-starter and goals-oriented in balancing a diverse array of tasks.
The work for this role will be performed on-site at the CSIS headquarters in Washington, DC.
The minimum annual salary for this position is $55,000.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
Contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up for program events, conferences, and special projects. Provide substantial administrative support, including external communications (social media accounts and email distributions), budgeting, and maintaining directors’ schedules. Edit and fact-check program materials with a critical perspective and strong attention to detail. Manage and supervise interns. Support the work of the Program through independent research for research projects, publications, multimedia, and speaking engagements.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor's degree in international Affairs, Political Science, Asia Studies, or a related field and a strong demonstrated interest in the Indo-Pacific region. 1–2 years professional experience. Internships may contribute toward this experience, but preference will be given to applicants with at least a year in a full-time professional role. Experience with administrative tasks and attention to detail in all/ most of the following: budgeting, expense reporting, scheduling, and event logistics. Demonstrable and strong research, writing, and communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills, along with an ability to work well independently and in groups. Must have demonstrated experience managing competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal supervision. A keen attention to detail.
