Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Satellite Office in Zamboanga and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementation of Transition and Recovery Unit (TRU) projects in Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi (ZamBaSulTa) in line with IOM policies, standards, and commitments.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Senior Programme Assistant and thematic specialists in the operational requirements of the field implementation of all TRU projects including periodic (monthly/quarterly) operational and financial tasks.
  2. Support the Senior Programme Assistant in coordination with the project management team and field teams in ZamBaSulTa for cost-efficient and timely delivery of project activities.
  3. Provide periodic project updates/activity reports and field support to the team in the preparation and timely submission of reports related to events, meeting, and other information, education, and communication (IEC) materials for the projects and IOM.
  4. Ensure full adherence to the principles of the Do no Harm Framework throughout the project implementation.
  5. Support the Project's visibility and stakeholder engagements, as required.
  6. Undertake duty travel to support the team and other colleagues, as required.
  7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.**

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Social Work, Community Development, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
  • High School degree in the above fields with at least four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in implementing community development projects, assistance for vulnerable individuals or communities, preferred.
  • Field experience with the governmental, non-governmental or international agencies involved in community development facilitation, social enterprises and local development planning or services, an asset.
  • Knowledge of peace and development context in Mindanao, a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in community facilitation, local governance processes, Mindanao peace and development issues, and adult education is a distinct advantage.

Skills

  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subjects dealt with by the Organization.
  • Knowledge of UN and bilateral/multilateral donor programming.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills; and
  • Knowledge of community organization.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Filipino is required. Working knowledge of any BaSulTa languages (i.e. Sama, Tausug, Yakan).
