The topic of women’s economic empowerment is of key importance for the OSCE as it directly links to the Organization’s comprehensive approach to security.
Advancing women’s equal access to economic opportunities fosters social cohesion, reduces inequalities, and enhances stability and sustainable development across the OSCE area.
In this regard, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana (Office) is planning to conduct a series of activities aimed at enhancing handicraft and entrepreneurship skills of a selected 12 socially vulnerable women. The main goal of this initiative is to enhance their employability and promote entrepreneurship by improving their access to economic opportunities. This initiative will take place in Almaty city from October to November (dates might change).
Objective of Assignment:
The Office is planning to hire a national consultant in the field of business development to to support the organization and co-ordination of art therapy workshops for socially vulnerable groups within the host country’s society in Almaty
Duration of Assignment:
October to November 2025 (dates might change)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Human Dimension Officer, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:
Develop mentorship workshop schedule;
Submit session reports and attendance lists submitted after each workshop with an established feedback mechanism;
Keep individual mentoring notes for women who require follow-up support;
Action plans or personal goals developed by participants;
Prepare final summary of results.
Workshop schedule is developed and implemented;
Pre-workshop and post-workshop evaluations are conducted with the attendance list;
Project participants received regular support, with particular attention given to those who require follow-up assistance;
Twelve goals and action plans were developed by the participants with the professional support of a mentor;
A comprehensive summary document was developed, consolidating key findings, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from the project (min 2 pages)
Necessary Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Gender Studies, or related field;
Training in group facilitation, coaching, or mentoring highly desirable;
Minimum 2 years of experience in group facilitation, mentoring, psychosocial support, or adult education;
A record of working with socially vulnerable groups, especially women;
Experience in designing and conducting workshops that build confidence, life skills, or resilience;
Strong skills in group dynamics, conflict resolution, and participatory facilitation methods;
Ability to create safe and inclusive spaces for open dialogue;
Competence in basic reporting, documentation, and monitoring of participant progress;
Excellent listening, communication, and motivational skills;
Ability to work with women of different literacy levels and life experiences;
Skilled in encouraging teamwork, peer support, and self-confidence;
Flexible, adaptive, and able to respond to group needs as they evolve;
Computer literate with practical experience using Microsoft applications.
Remuneration Package:
Remuneration will be based on the selected consultant's/expert's qualifications, experience, the tasks and deliverables for this position and in accordance with the OSCE established rates. It will be discussed during the interview. Payment will be transferred in local currency (tenge) to the bank account of the consultant.
