Medical Officer (Internal#21/2025)

MIVU has focused on studies to understand the systemic and mucosal immunology of diseases with natural infections and its application and extension to better determine the vaccine efficacy. Emphasis has been on studies of cholera, Shigella, ETEC, typhoid and recently on COVID-19 research.

The Medical Officer will report to the Scientist of the Enteric and Respiratory Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division and will be responsible for Project Implementation, Supervision & Monitoring of field activities, Clinical treatment and training support. She/he will be involved in:

Execute overall implementation of the clinical studies and disease surveillance as per the guidelines; Monitor and supervise sample and data collection from hospital and field; resolve any issues and maintain proper documentation; Supervise qualitative data collection, data curation and participate in peer debriefing and member checking; Ensure quality data collection through proper field monitoring, managing and supervising people; Work as a first touchpoint of the study to resolve any issues and provide feedback to the management; Admit and evaluate new patients and give appropriate management/treatment as per protocol and maintain patient documents/info using Tab or prescribed questionnaire; Provide training to the field staff as required to ensure quality data collection. Manage staff and guide/coach/mentor team members in a scientific arena (scientific writing, scientific capacity building) to develop good researchers;

Required qualifications and experience:

MBBS degree from a reputed institution with valid BMDC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council) registration. Master’s in Public Health will be an added advantage. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience; Candidates having experience in public health research, clinical practice, and field research activities are highly expected; Prior work experience in mass vaccination campaigns will be an added advantage.

Location: Mohakhali Campus, Dhaka

Contract Type and Duration:

Fixed Term; duration will be 01 Year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

Annual 16,08,570/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and day-care facilities are subject to space availability.
