Overview of Food and Land Use Coalition Established in 2017, the Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) is a community of organizations and individuals committed to the urgent need to transform the way we produce and consume food and use our land for people, nature, and climate. The core partners of the FOLU India Country platform are Council on Energy Environment and Water (CEEW), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Revitalising Rainfed Area Network (RRA-N), World Resources Institute India (WRI India). About your role:

FOLU India is looking to recruit a with an advanced degree in agriculture, environmental conservation, natural resource management or other related subjects with a minimum of 6 years of experience in research and writing and desirable experience in project management. FOLU globally and in India is moving to its 3rd phase by the year 2025. As part of phase III operations, FOLU has envisaged developing multiple action research and intervention initiatives, research projects, and externally authored reports. FOLU India also looking forward to creating and coordinating the action of national and subnational networks. During 2024 FOLU India intends to complete and publish its Action Agenda as well. The selected candidate will work closely with the FOLU India Country Coordinator as well as with the FOLU India core partners to finalize draft of the FOLU India Action Agenda and support FOLU India PMU in other sustainable food system transformation initiatives mainly through research, proposal development, and donor reporting. The role provides an opportunity to interact with various national and sub-national stakeholders and help implement sustainable food system transformation practices in the various project landscapes, across India. The candidate will have the opportunity to coordinate and provide input toward planning the long-term implementation of FOLU India initiatives in selected landscapes. Moreover, the candidate will get the opportunity to do quality research and publish popular articles research papers, and reports along with other FOLU team members. The candidate will actively participate in development activities such as identifying and writing proposals, engaging with partners and other opportunities. The candidate will be required to independently manage a research project, resources, stakeholder engagement, travel and represent FOLU India at various platforms.


How your day will unfold: I. Research and writing (70%)

  • Lead finalization of FOLU India action agenda. This will entail working with the FOLU partners on the action agenda document, conducting the analysis required, incorporating revisions, and liaison with the RDI team.
  • Conduct the basic research for preparing the ToRs for commissioning the external authored reports, preparing quality proposals and concept notes for national and subnational events and initiatives as part of managing national and sub-national networks.
  • Support the drafting of reports and peer-review manuscripts, case studies, outreach materials, presentations, and blogs.
  • Present complex information clearly and concisely and communicate research and non-research findings to focused and diverse audiences such as governments, the private sector, and community-based organizations.
    II. Programme Management (30%)
    • Maintain regular communication with FOLU India core partners and other project partners to stay informed about project developments and ensure the preparation of periodic and annual reports.
    • Ensure regular communication with FOLU Global Secretariat by providing timely updates on project development and strategy, including the submission of reports and any other necessary information.
    • Carry out the documentations for the donor management.
    • Support to prepare quality reports through detailed programme and process documentation and timely reporting of the progress to the relevant platforms, including the funding agency and FOLU Core team.
    • Support effective communication, organizing meetings, events and consultations.
    • Work with the FOLU Project Management Unit (FOLU PMU) and the project partners to develop a proposal for phase 3 of the programme.
    • Identify fundraising opportunities and contribute to fundraising efforts, including pitching ideas, writing proposals, and developing multi-year project proposals. Qualifications and requirements we seek:

      • Masters or equivalent degree in a related field mentioned above.
      • Minimum of six years' extensive experience in data analysis and scientific writing, including technical reports, research articles, review articles, proposals, pitch decks, and popular articles.
      • Experience in project design, implementation and management.
      • Understanding of food and land use systems and familiarity with agriculture, food and land use related policies schemes and programmes in India.
      • Experience in managing multi-stakeholder programmes and demonstrated ability to work with efficiency, particularly as part of team effort.
      • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with a focus on strategic challenges and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, both orally and in writing.
      • Demonstrated ability (through published work, articles, etc.) to write and comprehend effectively.
      • Proven track record in stakeholder engagement, preparing programme reports and developing and implementing work plans.
      • Comfort working with the staff at all levels of experience.
      • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and work with minimal oversight.

        Salary and Benefits: 1500000-1800000
        Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

        Location: New Delhi, India. The selected candidate will have to travel to various project locations and other areas, if required.

        Duration: The position is for one year (extendable based on performance and project requirements). The start date is as soon as possible.
