Internships
The IAEA accepts a limited number of interns each year. The internships are awarded to persons studying towards a university degree or who have recently received a degree (see Internship web pages for further details).
The purpose of the programme is:
Organizational Setting
The Department of Management's Division of General Services (MTGS) provides support functions to the IAEA through its four Sections, namely the Archives and Records Section (ARMS), the Commissary Management Section (CMS), the Facilities Management and General Support Section (FMGSS) and the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS).
The Travel and General Support Unit within FMGSS is responsible for the co-ordination of the IAEA's travel requirements among the Departments and the Agency's Travel Management Company, , processing of duty travel visas, Austrian visas and UNLPs. It also prepares and processes petrol tax refunds for official vehicles and diplomats, issues and renews Austrian residency permits ('legitimation' cards) for eligible staff members, experts, fellows, consultants, and interns. The Section also provides housing services to IAEA staff.
Main Purpose
By successfully cooperating with inside and outside stakeholders, the Travel & General Support Unit (TGU) processes applications and requests in the following areas: Austrian visa, car related issues, customs duty imports, duty travel visa, housing, legitimation cards, tax related issues and UN Laissez Passer (UNLP).
This work requires constant coordination between requesters, Agency staff and external contractors providing the services as applicable.
The main objective of the effort outlined herein is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the operational and administrative support and services provided by the TGU to customers, while at the same time providing opportunities for hands on experience of working in a dynamic and complex customer service environment. In addition, it will offer opportunities for learning more about the work in international organizations, its administrative procedures and communication with governmental organizations and other partners.
