Internship at the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) / Infrastructure Finance Division 1 (PSIF1)

New Market Segment Development: Market Research, Conceptualization & Project Development
2. Summary of Job Description
The primary objective of the internship is to support the PSIF1 in identifying, assessing, and potentially implementing projects in the development of new market segments (e.g., new country, new sector, new product).
The intern will work under the supervision of the PSIF1 team leaders and will be involved in the following tasks:
a) Market Research and Analysis:
• Conduct high level market assessments and research for new sectors that is consistent with PSIF1’s business plan which will include, but not limited to, municipality financing and critical minerals and clean energy technology manufacturing value chains as per the approach paper currently under review.
• Analyze market trends, regulatory frameworks, and competitive landscapes.
• Identify on-going activities and credentials of peer MDBs in those segments.
• Perform market studies to identify pipeline opportunities and challenges.
b) Conceptualization:
• Assist in the development of concept notes, including ADB’s SWOT analysis and risk assessments as new entrants in such markets.
• Conduct comprehensive research on financing tools and models (including bonds, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and other innovative financing mechanisms) available for the implementation, together with case studies in different regions to identify best practices and lessons learned.
• Coordinate and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders required during the conceptualization.
c) Project preparation:
• Assist in the preparation of investment proposals and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Draft communication materials, such as project briefs, presentations, and reports.

5. Expected Outcomes
• Market or sector research reports on the subjects requested by the team leaders, including but not limited to municipal financing and mining sectors. Interns will be required to prepare and deliver presentations summarizing research findings.
• Communication materials, including project briefs.
6. Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field.
7. Relevant Experience and Other Requirements
• Strong analytical and research skills, proficiency in data analysis tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience or coursework in sustainable development, energy, municipal projects (e.g., urban, water and transport) and private sector development.
