WRI India, an independent charity legally registered as the India Resources Trust, provides objective information and practical proposals to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development. WRI India’s energy program works on improving access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for critical sectors, such as healthcare and education. The team focuses on research and data-driven interventions to reduce energy intensity, promote clean energy integration, and improve operational resilience in essential services. About your role
WRI India is seeking an intern to support its internal research on healthcare electrification and energy efficient medical healthcare systems. The role will focus on analyzing and understanding healthcare sector’s energy demands, energy performance characteristics of critical medical devices, reviewing national & international efficiency standards and broader elements of sustainable healthcare infrastructure. The position is suited for candidates with a strong interest in the intersection of renewable energy, biomedical technology and energy efficiency. How your day will unfold:

Conduct secondary research on topics at the intersection of clean energy and healthcare electrification. Compile and analyze manufacturer’s data on medical equipment power ratings, operating hours, standby loads, and energy consumption profiles. Review national (BIS, NHSRC) and international (IEC, WHO, ISO) standards for medical equipment performance and efficiency benchmarks. Support research on broader healthcare sustainability themes. Prepare structured summaries, comparison tables, and visual documentation of findings. Assist in organizing technical notes, references, and internal databases related to equipment standardization. Sharpen insights by complementing the analyses by working closely with project team and conducting literature review and consultations to validate abovementioned findings Continuous engagement with all the stakeholders to effectively carry out the research.Qualifications and Requirements we seek: Master’s degree (pursuing or higher) in biomedical engineering, public health, healthcare technology, renewable energy, sustainable energy systems or related technical disciplines Proficient in Excel and data compilation; experience in comparative research and secondary literature review Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.A flexible individual who can work independently, with little direction and supervision. Keen attention to detail. Having a broad understanding of healthcare and/or energy, with an idea of the relationship between electricity access and socio-economic development is a plus. Stipend: 25,000 per month
Location: Bangalore or Guwahati
