Location: United States of America
The IDB Group is a community of diverse, versatile, and passionate people who come together on a journey to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment.
About this position
We are looking for a senior consultant for IDB Invest's Financial Products and Services Division (“FNP”) with extensive experience in initiatives that require attracting private sector investors for debt security issuances in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). As a consultant you will develop a strategy aimed at enhancing IDB Group’s capacity to reach local and international institutional investors and promote sustainable cross-sector investments in the region, focusing on developing solutions and strategy to support syndication for bond issuances, as well as establishing relationships with key local and international investors and investment banks.
What you’ll do:
- Engage with local and international institutional investors and broker-dealers in target countries (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru) to gather information on 1) their experience and expectations for investment in sustainable finance and 2) the potential use and demand of IDB Invest instruments and initiatives to further develop IDB Invest’s strategy with institutional investors and broker dealers in LAC.
- Interact with the FNP technical teams to gather information on FNP strategy to maximize private capital mobilization as well as the internal constraints in structuring products attractive to institutional investors.
- Undertake a benchmarking exercise on efforts currently underway by other IFIs and actors in the region to inform IDB Invest’s approach.
- Define a roadmap for the implementation of IDB Invest’s strategy to develop demand for and supply of long-term ESG assets in LAC and lead the execution of its initial roll-out in target countries.
- Work with the Debt Capital Markets and Resource Mobilization teams to understand the constraints of IDB Invest in syndicating domestic and/or international bonds.
- Considering FNP strategies, institutional limits and findings from engagement efforts with local investors, provide strategic advice and recommendations to IDB Invest Senior Management on the approach and implementation of IDB Invest’s Strategy with domestic institutional investors.
- Communicate findings and recommendations with relevant audiences within IDB Group.
- Collaborate closely with SCL/LMK to leverage the PLACNetwork platform to promote the objectives.
- Align all efforts with any other on-going FNP projects focusing on placements with local investors – such as Technical Co-operation run with CMF in Unlocking Institutional Investors’ Participation in local Green Bond Market.
