Among its responsibilities, the UN Youth Office is mandated to fostering meaningful youth engagement in policymaking and decision-making processes at different levels, including at the UN. As part of the UN Youth Office work, various products will be launched in 2025 across the work of its UN System-Wide Coordination and Accountability (UNSCA) and Partnership, Advocacy and Communications (PAC) Sections. Scope of Work: The graphic designer will lead the conceptualization, design, and layout of various products launching in 2025. This will include: 1. A compendium of good practices on meaningful youth engagement in policymaking and decision-making. 2. A strategy paper for strengthening national youth consultative bodies and their meaningful engagement in national policymaking and decision-making. 3. A strategy paper for strengthening meaningful youth engagement in global policy and decision-making processes. These products will be mostly text based. The contents of the products will be provided by UNYO. The graphic designer is responsible for delivering a launch-ready version. To complete this task, the graphic designer will collaborate closely with the UNSCA team in UNYO, as well as the editor contracted by UNYO for this purpose. The expected deliverables include: 1. Compendium of good practices on meaningful youth engagement in policymaking and decision-making: a. Design, layout and generate the draft compendium of good practices on meaningful youth engagement in policymaking and decision-making. b. Design, layout and generate the draft social media assets for compendium launch. c. Incorporate comments and generate the final version of compendium and social media assets. 2. Strategy paper for strengthening national youth consultative bodies and their meaningful engagement in national policymaking and decision-making: a. Design, layout and generate draft strategy paper for strengthening national youth consultative bodies and their meaningful engagement in national policymaking and decision-making. b. Design, layout and generate draft social media assets for strategy paper for strengthening national youth consultative bodies and their meaningful engagement in national policymaking and decision-making. c. Incorporate comments and generate the final version of strategy paper and social media assets. 3. Strategy paper for strengthening meaningful youth engagement in global policy and decision-making processes: a. Design, layout and generate the draft strategy paper for strengthening meaningful youth engagement in global policy and decision-making processes. b. Design, layout and generate the draft social media assets for strategy paper for strengthening meaningful youth engagement in global policy and decision-making processes launch. c. Incorporate comments and generate the final version of strategy paper and social media assets. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree in art, graphic design or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with a combination of two years professional experience and academic qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least 2 years’ experience in design; ability to produce compelling and youth-friendly/innovative design materials; extensive experience creating publications in Adobe/ InDesign (or a similar programme) is required. Previous experience designing for accessibility is required. Proficient in design illustration and animations. Knowledge of and experience in developing materials for social media. Ability to present technical and numerical data in a creative way. Experience in designing publications is desirable. LanguagesFluency in written and spoken English is required; proficiency of other UN Languages is desirable. Additional InformationNot available.
