Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
Within UNHCR¿s Division of External Relations (DER), the Marketing and Emergencies Section leads on fundraising communication to raise awareness, garner support and catalyze action to raise resources for UNHCR¿s programs. Specifically, the Marketing and Emergencies Section¿s Content Team is charged with ensuring that UNHCR¿s PSP network ¿ which includes market affiliates and national partners around the world ¿ has the content, tools, resources and best practices to run effective fundraising programmes, empowering income-generating teams to deliver increased resources to UNHCR¿s budget.
This position is a global role that sits within PSP's Content team.
The incumbent is responsible for managing the workflow of content creators to oversee that content gets finished and distributed / published on time. S/he is guided by the overarching global fundraising content strategy to make day to day decisions about what content should be created. The incumbent has a strong understanding of the strategy and works with content creators to generate relevant ideas and topics for the editorial calendar. S/he manages the distribution of content and information of the PSP network as focal point for markets on content.
The incumbent will oversee an Associate Fundraising Communication officer and an intern and will contract content creators to support content production. S/he will work closely with the Chief of Section and Senior Fundraising Communication Officer to have a sound understanding of the content strategy which reflects higher-level organizational objectives and the needs of the different clients. Further s/he will engage frequently with PSP markets and regions in order to acquire a sound understanding of donor needs and will liaise with communication colleagues at global and regional level in order to ensure content coordination across teams and channels. The incumbent works closely with the colleague(s) in charge of emergencies, and shows flexibility and leadership when emergencies (one of the biggest accelerators of growth) require a temporary re-prioritisation of the development of content goals.
As a member of PSP, this position will be responsible for helping to progressively increase income to UNHCR from the private sector through the development of stronger donor communication both for Individual Giving programmes and Partnership & Philanthropy programmes.

Duties
- Ensure that PSP markets worldwide have access to a regular flow of high quality, impactful content and products for use in communication to individuals and leadership donors. Content is driven by the overarching global fundraising content strategy which reflect market needs, relevant issues according to UNHCR¿s mandate (refugee, internally displaced and stateless), and is grounded in fundraising best-practice and is on-brand to build a lasting connection with UNHCR¿s work. Guidance and strategic direction provided to markets in case of emergencies and change of strategic priorities due to political/humanitarian developments.
- Coordinate of all aspects of the production (research, content gathering, writing, editing, layout) and delivery of donor-focused fundraising communication content for both IG and PPH audiences, in line with PSP strategic objectives and priorities.
- Act as a content focal point for the PSP network and share content and other updates via social media and other channels.
- Effectively manage the workflow of content creators to oversee that content gets finished and distributed / published on time.
- Improve content processes, implement solutions to ensure that the team is functioning efficiently, and ensure quality and compliance with guidelines, consent forms etc.
- Creates, reviews and updates editorial.
- With the Chief of Section / Senior Fundraising Communication Officer, undertake strategic content planning exercises on a quarterly basis with key stakeholders, with regular reviews and flexibility to adapt each trimester.
- Develop and maintains editorial calendar which guides the work of the team and supports overarching global fundraising content strategy.
- Closely follow organisational/political and humanitarian developments globally which can affect content planning. Stand ready to support emergency colleagues when reprioritisation is required.
- Respond to network enquiries as content focal point.
- Share content and other updates with the network via email, the Facebook group and through the new SharePoint digital work space.
- Manage timely delivery of content by team. Ensure PSP Marketing and Emergencies Trello calendar is updated for content as needed, to ensure content coordination across teams and channels.
- Liaise with key content and other related teams throughout UNHCR to ensure sharing of information and content with the PSP network.
- Support effective uploading and archiving of content on the Refugees Media Library.
- Maintain a well-functioning fundraising communication content hub to deliver a regular flow of high quality content to the private sector fundraising network.
- Plan and coordinate missions to gather high quality multimedia content for global campaigns, PPH partnerships and emergencies as needed, in line with PSP strategic objectives and priorities.
- Provide, writing, proof reading and editing support for global PSP materials.
- Commissions and contracts content creators as needed for delivery of projects.
- Oversees budget for content team.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Professional Work Experience
Years of Experience / Degree Level
For P3 - 6 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or 5 years relevant experience with Graduate degree; or 4 years relevant experience with Doctorate degree

Relevant Job Experience
Essential:
- 6 years¿ experience in Fundraising for not for profits including international experience.
- Proven experience of Individual Giving fundraising techniques.
- Ability to oversee creative project delivery.
- Experience applying writing styles and techniques that are effective in engaging donors and supporters.
- Experience planning, gathering and producing multimedia content as part of a donor acquisition and retention strategy.
- Experience identifying and producing stories of relevance for diverse markets and audiences.
- Technological literacy and ability to use a wide range of web related applications.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with international team members.
- Fluency in English and excellent written and editorial skills.
