The Corporate Services and Facilities Management Department of the IMF is seeking to hire an experienced Facilities Officer to oversee an assigned portfolio of IMF owned and leased real estate assets and manage the execution of international and domestic lease transactions and oversee vendor led tasks.
The Facilities Officer (Real Estate) reports to the Section Chief, Global Real Estate, and is based at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., however the incumbent is required to undertake periodic travel to IMF overseas field offices to carry out the duties of the position.
The Global Real Estate Section (GRE) oversees the IMF’s global portfolio of owned and leased real estate assets and manages the real estate activities at approximately 220 properties (commercial office, government provided office, and executive residence) located in over 100-member countries. Field office properties are a mix of office and residences, spread across five geographical regions, to include: Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East/Central Asia, and Western Hemisphere. GRE provides portfolio management advisory services to departments with operations at the IMF’s field office locations, oversees the execution of complex lease transactions and interior fit-out/project management activities, and manages the lease administration and field- based property management functions for the IMF.
The responsibilities of this Facilities Officer (Real Estate) position is to provide transaction and project management services in support of the global real estate program, with specific focus on the (i) development and implementation of a residential market intelligence repository for each member country; (ii) execution of residential real estate transactions that comply with IMF security standards and are based on international and local laws; and (iii) other projects that support GRE strategic objectives. The incumbent will work closely with IMF Security Services to establish the market intelligence repository as an immediate priority. Following that, and with guidance from Senior Officers (portfolio managers), the incumbent will oversee and execute residential real estate lease transactions (many of which are in emerging markets) in support of the IMF’s mission. The majority of site selection, lease negotiation and occupancy preparations are executed by third-party firms with long-term contractual agreements with the IMF. Additionally, the Facilities Officer will support the Section Chief to execute other GRE strategic initiatives.

Advanced university degree, or equivalent in Real Estate, Facilities Management, Architecture, Interior Design and Construction Management fields is preferred; or a bachelor’s degree, supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in Real Estate, Architecture, Project Management and/or Interior Design/interior renovation fields, is required.

This is a two-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business need.
