Organizational Setting of the Consultancy:
This position is located within the Media and Communications Branch and directly reports to the Head of Multimedia. The Multimedia team is responsible for high quality professional production and distribution of photo and video communications assets. These assets are featured on all global digital channels for UNFPA including unfpa.org, global social media channels, external digital media outlets and traditional media channels. The Multimedia team provides normative guidance and technical advice to country offices, regional offices and other divisions within the organization. The team is also responsible for the digital asset management (DAM) system supporting the entire organization, including maintenance, oversight, training and assets distribution.
Purpose of consultancy:
The DAM Manager is responsible for maintenance and management of the UNFPA’s Digital Asset Management system – The Multimedia Hub - and all associated workflows and training requirements. Assets include high resolution photography, video, brand materials and publications from MCB, other HQ Divisions, Country Offices and Regional Offices. The DAM manager is also responsible for archiving and cataloguing the audio-visual library for UNFPA NYHQ.

Recruitment Qualifications:
Education: An advanced university degree in Information Science or related field is required. *A first-level university degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
Experience: A minimum of five years of experience managing DAM platforms is required. Demonstrable experience with large DAM systems, including technical expertise; Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in coordinating multimedia DAM systems including web, database, API, taxonomy and related components; Experience organizing and maintaining non-book libraries and special archives online; Knowledge of information management and cataloguing standards; Understanding of both the challenges of changing working practices around assets and the people challenges of the same; Evidence of strong communication skills with team members; Experience in directing teams who deliver technical training and technical customer support; Demonstrable experience working with taxonomies and metadata; Knowledge of international documentary media standards and practices an asset; Excellent skills in planning communications; Evidence of ability to build good customer relationships with stakeholders; Publishing industry preferred; Knowledge of the Orange Logic Cortex DAM platform strongly preferred; Knowledge of photography applications Photo Mechanic, Adobe Bridge, and Photoshop an asset.
