The Payments, Currencies, and Infrastructure (PI) Division in MCM has a vacancy for a Deputy Division Chief. The Division aims to offer thought leadership, capacity development, and policy advice on central bank and private digital currencies, payments, and financial market infrastructure, as well as on related macrofinancial implications. The new deputy division chief will contribute to all of these areas, help reinforce the division’s analytical work, and contribute to managing the division.

Responsibilities
Managing key projects of the division with a focus on analytical work. This entails establishing a strategic vision for the work, organizing the work in teams, and helping each team deliver to its full potential.
Also leading capacity development projects with member countries, and surveillance work such as Financial Sector Assessment Programs (FSAP).
Assisting the Division Chief and other Deputy Division Chiefs in managing the division including mentoring staff, hiring, sharing information, encouraging accountability, creativity, and dialogue and more generally reinforcing the division’s culture.
Taking responsibility to review, edit, and clear material.
Leading collaboration with other IMF divisions and/or external organizations.
Taking initiative to establish contacts with national authorities, academics, private sector representatives, and members of other international bodies working on common topics.
Providing advice, upon request, to the front office of the Monetary and Capital Markets (MCM) Department, as well as to members of Management of the IMF.
Representing the division, and potentially the Fund, in external bodies, international working groups, or at conferences.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have:
A PhD in economics, finance or other advanced degree relevant to the division’s focus areas.
At least fifteen years of expertise in the focus areas of the division, including experience in policy making and advising, strategic and analytical thinking.
Extensive experience working with or in central banks, international bodies, and/ or standard setting bodies.
Proven management experience including mentoring and coaching staff, fostering teamwork, leading projects, and delegating effectively. Outstanding feedback from superiors and subordinates alike is a must.
Exceptional writing skills and excellent verbal communication skills.
A strong sense of initiative and team-work, impeccable organization and project management skills, and strong negotiation, diplomatic, and partnership skills to build and maintain relationships across the Fund and with country authorities and other international organizations.
Experience in providing technical assistance and/or bilateral surveillance is a definite plus.
A track record of impactful publications and presentations at public events is a plus.
A large personal network in the focus areas of the division is preferred.
