About this position

We are looking for a data-driven professional with good communication skills who can work with multiple stakeholders to derive valuable insights from data and help coordinate data stewardship across the organization.

You will work in the Strategic Planning and Monitoring Division (SPD/SMO), part of the Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness (SPD). SPD is charged with providing technical guidance to develop a culture of results within the Bank, helping the Bank innovate its core business, and ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of its products and methods over time.

SPD/SMO, as part of SPD, (i) develops the Strategy and strategic proposals for its implementation that contribute to defining the role of the IDB to serve the clients evolving needs best; (ii) leads the review and design of operational instruments; (iii) monitors Bank's performance following the priorities established in the Institutional Strategy as measured and reported on the Impact Framework, Annual Development Effectiveness Overview Report, periodic Business Reviews; (iv) administers and monitors the information system that captures project performance of Sovereign Guarantee (SG) loan operations and technical cooperation’s; (v) serves as Management's liaison with Oversight and Evaluation Office (OVE), coordinating and ensuring Management response to OVE evaluations and tracks Board endorsed recommendations; (vi) ensures that the Bank's organization structure and business processes are aligned to the Bank's objectives. Recommends changes to enhance the consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of Bank units, and (vii) ensures that the Bank's information system meets the needs of result-based management at different levels, providing open access to key decision makers.

What you’ll do:

Collect and process corporate and operational data with Excel or statistical packages such as Stata, Python or R to provide insights for senior manager decision-making. Coordinate and participate in requirement gathering and requirements validation exercises with stakeholders to enable the creation of new dashboards. Design intuitive and user-friendly dashboards that provide insights into operational data. Create interactive and static data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, or similar software to represent complex data sets in an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing manner. Support the implementation of a data governance model in the institution to improve data-driven decision-making in our processes. Develop impactful visualizations Identify opportunities and develop projects to enhance processes that impact data generation and use. Evaluate internal systems and processes for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, and develop and maintain protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data. Apply a deep understanding of IDB business needs to connect users with available data intelligence solutions for decision-making and articulate requirements for new tool development or improvements appropriate for IDB standards. Create and deliver educational and informational content (i.e., courses, guides, presentations, and other materials) on operational dashboards adapted to various internal audiences. Chip into the Bank’s digital transformation program data stream by participating in the design of approaches and supporting alignment to institutional objectives.

What you'll need

Education: Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Communications, or related fields. Experience: At least five years of experience in data governance, analytics, and literacy. Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French or Portuguese is desirable.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
