About this position
We seek a highly skilled and motivated professional to join the Office of the Secretary in a pivotal role. This individual will contribute to the decision-making process of the IDB Group's Boards and Committees by coordinating the discussion of corporate and operational issues, facilitating deliberations, and detailing meeting outcomes.
You will play a central role in preparing, conducting, and following up on the meetings of the Board of Executive Directors and Committees of the IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab by undertaking background and analytical research, preparing thematic summaries before meetings, and writing minutes, summaries, and reports to inform and document these bodies' deliberations and decision-making processes.
What you’ll do:
Prepare draft issues notes advising Committee Chairpersons and the Coordinators on the background of matters to be discussed in committee meetings, possible discussion topics, and expected meeting outcomes. Attend Board and Committee meetings to prepare summaries of deliberations and minutes of meetings, containing a concise, structured, and accurate account of the proceedings, main topics discussed, areas of consensus and divergence, conclusions, and meetings’ outcomes. Consult the minutes' content with relevant parties, process translation requests, and post them on the SEC website for consideration and approval by the corresponding body. Draft reports of Committee Chairpersons, identifying relevant issues, the main views of Committee deliberations, and recommendations to the Board. Research and analyze operational and corporate matters and identify possible courses of action and procedures for upcoming discussions. Contribute to continuously improving processes, develop creative solutions to meet clients' and businesses’ needs, and lead projects as requested. Effectively use IDB tools, including meeting recording systems, record management systems, the SEC website, voice recognition software, and other internal systems supporting STB’s functions.What you'll need
Education: Hold a master’s or equivalent advanced university degree in economics, law, political science, public policy, international relations, translation, linguistics, journalism, or communications. Experience: At least three years of experience drafting concise summaries of meeting deliberations, statements, and technical documents under tight deadlines. Languages: You have excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English. A working understanding of French or Portuguese would be a plus.Key skills
