Work LocationParis Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional levels. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division works with international governments and non-governmental organizations, national and local governments, business and industry to develop and implement policies, strategies, and practices that are cleaner and safer, incorporate environmental costs, use natural resources efficiently, reduce pollution and risks for humans and the environment, and enable the implementation of conventions and international agreements. The consultant’s responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: • Monitor and participate in all relevant CFCMA workstream and working group meetings. • Develop structured reporting mechanisms to streamline UNEP’s contributions to CFCMA activities. • Prepare high-quality briefing materials, summaries, and policy recommendations for UNEP’s leadership. • Liaise with internal UNEP teams to ensure alignment with CFCMA objectives. • Coordinate UNEP’s engagement in key CFCMA events, ensuring preparedness and strategic participation. • Lead the compilation and structuring of knowledge products, including reports, case studies, and coordination documents Qualifications/special skillsMaster’s or higher degree in economics, public policy, environment policy, or related field. • A minimum of two years' experience in coordination roles is required. • Experience in policy coordination, research, or project management within environmental or climate policy is required. • knowledge of international finance-climate initiatives, Ministries of Finance engagement, or sustainable public financial management required. • Research and analytical skills with experience in modelling, macroeconomics, or fiscal policy is required. • Experience working with international coalitions, intergovernmental processes, or global climate finance mechanisms is required. • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information and draft high-quality reports, briefing materials, and coordination summaries. • Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
